Default Got $5k Turbo?

Got the money but now i keep hearing different things from some of my friends. One says turbo the other says N/A. Which one? One of them told me that if i boost it i will most likley mess my engine up in the future. That i cant afford. I dont want alot of boost, just enough to make it to my 220 goal with stock intenals. Then the other says N/A sucks and it cost too much money to get to where i want.
I really dont kno which way to go. I am not gonna put more than 5k into it period either way.

they can both be made reliably, cost will prolly be the same depending on which platform you go with, so basically, you need to do your own research, then decide what YOU want, you're going to have to deal with it, not those other people.

It can but alot more work will need to be done to get to the point the turbo will take you. IMO turbo>n/a any day.

No, n/a is a much smoother, more gradualpower band. What motor do you have? $5k dollars is a lot of money. You could build your motor and afford a pretty nice turbo setup for that kind of money. Just take your time and do your research. You could put together a really reliable, powerful setup if you do things right the first time.

If he has a 2000 Si hes got the b16a2. If i had $5k to put into the engine i would build it for turbo then you still have a lot left over for the turbo setup.

if i were you and you were thinking about a turbo then i would research, research, research. forty just did a write up about everything you need for a turbo set up which you could get away with for about 1500-2000 bucks.

Default RE: Got $5k Turbo?

Thanks for the input guys. I have been doin research on the turbo and what type i would get i just need to research N/A. But before all that i need to take care of a coulple problems with my car. For example why do i smell fuel in my car when i drive it hard it and why is there like a major lag in how it responds. It lags as if you have a turbo, then kicks. Think it might be the air filter or something idk.
Thanks again guys.
