Default cv joint gone help

hey all so recently when i turn i hear a loud anoying cracking & the other day i was making a way hard turn and snap!!! i tryed to go but nothing i took a look at it my passenger side cv joint is spent do you know where i could get a quality one for cheap and how hard is it to fix im 16 but im pretty sure i can handle it

where are you at? Just get an axle with a lifetime warranty at a auto parts store like autozone. They run for about $100

im in utah but its only the side going to the wheel can you buy like the half axle or is that just a bigger pain in the ass thanks

Yeah get the whole axel. It sucks just replacing the CV. Repacking that **** is a bitch.

ok sweet also i read like 3 diffrent diy's and they all seam way to easy to be true is it really that easy to put in a new axle from your experience if you have any??? thanks for the help

It is cake. There is a DIY for it in the DIY section. Don't worry about install. Just follow all directions and take your time. You will be fine.

really easy...yhe hardest part will be "prying" it out of the diff...or the hub nut if you don't have a large enough socket. Expect to spend 2 hours doing it if you're not too comfy with hand tools...


P.S. and don't forget to refill the tranny with fresh fluid

Wow, I am a Auto Mechanic and have been in the field for about 7 years and this is only the second story I have heard of a CV Axle actually breaking. Crazy.

I broke my CV's on multiple occasions...apparently people don't drive hard up where you live.
