CURRENTLY:deciding paint job
ALL RIGHT, the time has finally come to get on this project. I've been itching to have a nice boosted honda for over a year now and with a lot (and i mean a LOT) of research and learning and a job, i think i can go ahead and do this thing, and i'de love to take yall along for the ride:)
Time for me to pull my weight around here as much as yall have helped me so i will not only be making this to document my progress, but also to help everyone learn some how-to (whatever i can do with out professional help) and if i screw up, learn from my mistakes, lol.

Ok, where to start, i get a paycheck every 2 weeks so pretty much, long as i start with the cheaper stuff and work up, look for updates through out the weeks, after i get through the cheap, part will come creeping in as i can afford them (turbo, manifold, ect..)
**Prequel... Todd(me), Josh (my cousin)
---Josh: I gots me a GSR, and im going to turbo it and it will dust your stuff
.....Todd: i bet it won't
.....we set a budget, and now IT'S ON.....

**GOALS**
--350HP efficiently--not going to be a daily driven, but I want it to be able to be
--Custom, cleam design-- something to turn heads, but im not a ricer body kit style guy. Custom touches
--inform, learn and stay on budget-- help teach other honda people, learn myself, dont over spend

Current money spent---------------- $950
**MOTOR BUILD** as if you havent seen this 10000 times

All right, heres the car, 95 Del Sol S.
picked it up locally for $700, guy left $150 bucks worth of tools in the trunk, lol. Its definatley a project, thats for sure, but as for a rolling shell (will run with a timing belt, stock D15 engine) i say its a dam good deal. Btw fully adjustable coilovers on it, havent checked the brand yet (raining hard) but im hoping they are decent.

The Del Sol is basically the replacement for teh CRX but being a variety of a Civic. hence the technical name fora CRX is Civic CRX, and for a DelSol it is Civic DelSol.

yup del sol is still civic

theonecalledtodd
04-18-2007, 07:15 AM
lmao, you'd be surprised how often i get called Luigi. Yeah, on the registration for the car it says civic del sol. Hub caps on one side, not on the other, thats how we rock it in VA lol.
Im in the process of taking pieces apart for cleaning right now, i would do like a how to for that, but i dont think im writing a haynes manual here. Right this second im doing my first customish mod, cleaning the cluster out and putting color over the light bulbs to make the cluster light up a different color (going to pick up the paint today) this mod was found at the solsociety website. I know it should be the least of my worries considering the damage on the car, but its almost free to do and im strapped for a little bit.

I'm sorry to inform you, but there's really a high probablility that some, if not all valves are bent. I assume that the timing belt snapped, since you stated that the car needs one. But then again - it sounds like you will be doing a swap anyway, so it doesn't really matter

hey yall, dont know how this will work or not,but im going to try to put a poll up here, i need hlp choosing a paint job, its almost certainly going to be 2 toned, black i going to be one color for sure to help the interior match and give me more option, but what about the other color?? Im taking many sugestions from people, but if yall want to vote and maybe leave a response here about maybe what tone of the color you were thinking, that might help me with my decision.

ej6buddy
04-22-2007, 09:36 PM
how about all black, with black rims and everything, do your interior all black, with all red fabric, like the headliner, armrest, carpet, seats, floormats, etc. i really don't like del sol's, but i think that combo would look killer.

theonecalledtodd
04-22-2007, 09:39 PM
yeh, that would look hot, but its been done before ya know. I like kinda going in different directions, but i dont want anything too crazy, just eye catching. Around here, black on black is common (what with all the "gangstas" in the escalades, lol)

ej6buddy
04-22-2007, 09:43 PM
these days, NOTHING, and i mean nothing is new and original in the automotive department, but there are a few exceptions (<.00001%)i'm just saying i'd rather have a nice car than just something that's "original" but doesn't suit your taste. in the end, it's your decision, b/c ur buying and drivin'.

FlipHKD720
04-22-2007, 09:47 PM
i like this project :)i think blacked out would like ill on that del sol though, black paint, black rims w/ polisehd lip, tinted, some HIDs and boosted, damn :D

theonecalledtodd
04-23-2007, 07:17 AM
lol, i hear ya, but frankly to come out with it, i dont have the money to paint it black, did you take a look at the damage on there, there is even more little bits here and there. Now i can fix it up and get it fixed up to the point where its great quality, but black paint, every single little flaw is going to look huge in the light, 2 toned color offset it a bit and a brighter color up top will really take away from it. I agree with the black on black though, it is hottttt

Also looks like red is in the lead, just so everyone knows, im not going like bright red/ colors. Itll be more like a darker crimson shade for the red.

04-23-2007, 09:48 AM
your original paint is the same on my del sol paradise blue green pearl...there fun lil cars had the top off yesterday cruisin around and gsr under there would make it snappy...

ej6buddy
04-23-2007, 04:22 PM
use a milano red, like the factory red, and then use the midnight black pearl, that would look interesting. the red would pop because it's with black, and the pearl black would pop because, well, pearl! that is if you have the cash for it, i know what you mean by not having the money, i wish i could repaint mine red, but it's just too dam expensive.

theonecalledtodd
04-23-2007, 05:17 PM
well, im fortunate enough to have friends that do paint, all i have to have money for is the paint and supplies, such as sanding and stuff, as ill be doing all of that alone, they will be spraying it, curing, ect....

And i plan to be done with the entire engine turbo and all with the price of a GSR swap, lol. This is to prove you can turn trash into gold on a budget if you stay with your eye on the prize. Only thing holding anybody back is money ya kno.

Looks good, but was the car in a big car crash?

theonecalledtodd
04-24-2007, 07:08 AM
not big, no structural damage, just cosmetic, guy ran undr a truck and the hitch knocked the bumper up, bent the hood and fenders from it. The rest of the damage is simple dents and dings for the most part.

FlipHKD720
04-24-2007, 08:11 AM
if not black, then i say go red :)and a boosted GSR in that thing would be sick. Keep us updated!

damn yall, im back, sorry about the lack of activity, been a rough couple of weeks, but im pretty sure everything bad thats gonna happen has happened (my heart condition acting up, a friend commited suicide, and my girlfriend of 2years ditched me because "ive got too much stress right now than to have your depressing attitude bringing more stress on" puh any comments on that stuff is fine), lol, so im back from my 2 week road trip to ease my mind with my friends, college is out for summer, and now its time to get back on the car, i stripped the entire inside out and will have pictures up tomarrow. Body work begins soon, and next pay check i could possibly have enough for the rods and pistons....ect.

All right, sorry for such the long gap, nothing much has been going on except buying body filler, primer and hammers and such for the body work, lol. Well heres some pictures of the body work being done. ALSO, thats a picture of the free set of 5zigen rims i got, i got 3 of them from my cousin for free, one of them need to be replaced, so i have to buy 2 of them to have a full set, great cuz its free.

not bad i like them wheels good deal too. so what color are you goin to paint it..

theonecalledtodd
06-03-2007, 07:59 PM
well, i think im going to paint it back the stock color, but with a house of kolor pearl coat on top, i was going to go a different color, but the extra work involved with getting every nook and cranny combined with everything else that has to be done may be too much, plus i think the green looks ok long as its got a nice clear coat on it.
