ORIGINAL: absoulute if u sand off the grains on the plastic more then likely u will end up with deep sand scratchs. i would recommend just scrubbing them with a scotch brite pad and scuff stuff (found at any auto paint store) . if u want to get rid of the grains the right way to do it is to fiberglass it but that will take forever.. Actually, I don't have any deep scratches... that's one of the reasons it took so long to sand everything for... I took it down to about 400 grit, and the scratches that are still left (there's one or two shallow scratches that aren't very noticeable) will disappear when I primer the pieces anyway. quote:
ORIGINAL: Pete That blue is horrible. Yeah, that's pretty much why I'm painting everything black... it'll look a lot better than the blue

It was finally nice enough outside to paint. I didn't have any primer or kyrlon fusion, but I did have a can of gloss black engine enamel sitting around, and I figured, "why not?" (I have painted plastic with enamel before, and I've got to say, it stays on the plastic pretty well). Anyway, I managed to get the driver's door pieces painted, as well as the defroster vents on the dash. Originally, I wasn't sure about it because it's gloss black, but I think it looks pretty good (and there's no glare from it either). Next up: Passenger door

Well, right now my interior is in pieces... the center console and dash trim are drying in the garage awaiting a few more coats. I basically ran out of paint, but luckily I'm not planning on going anywhere until monday, so I have plenty of time to pick up more paint and everything. If all goes according to plan, I could very well be done by monday. ^ Now that's glossy These pieces need a few more coats of paint before I'm going to call them done, though... The schedule: Today-Center console/dash trim - ran out of paint Tomorrow-Get more paint / finish console & dash, rear speaker grilles Saturday-Passenger door, passenger heater vent, replace door fabric with black fabric Sunday-finish up, put car back together, maybe clean up a few wires or something.
