Default 97 engine swap...NEED advice

Ok so ive got a 97 civic ex coupe..its a great car as everyone knows and i plan to run the engine til it just wont go anymore...but at that point i want to swap out my engine. So i figure the best place for advice is here...I want a swap with as much power that will still be legal in Maryland..I was looking into a b18c5 swap but I believe that is illegal. Im looking to spend around 4,000 on the engine and I am hoping you guys can point me in the right direction.

i think to be legal you need a 97 or newer engine, B series are also fairly common swaps for 6th gens, search around and you can usually find a lot of info about it

Most power out of a stock engine will the the jdm h22, but that will be a bitch to put and if you're asking what kind of engine you could swap, then i don't think you know enough to do it yourself. A b18 of any kind will be much easier to swap.

it's not illegal.

engine has to be same year as your car or newer; since the B18C5 didn't exist before 1997 you're fine.

and yeah, you will need about $4000

the b18c5 was in 97-01 Integra Type-R's, so you will be good as far as being legal goes.

Google it for info on the swap, i found this: http://hondaswap.com/swap-articles/6...verview-29118/hopefully that helps a little bit

EDIT: since youre staying OBD2, you should be able to pass emissions, just dont get a new cat, or if you do get an OEM one (the gains of a high-flow cat isnt worht the price IMO)

whats your budget? If you've got the money, H, F, or K swaps will give you some real good gains, but a swapped boosted B series will be really fun to drive

for a totally stock swap, B18C5 is the BEST b-series engine.

some h-series and f-series have slightly more HP but the swap is more complicated.
