Default Manual transmission swap

Hey everyone,

I have a 94 civic ex coupe auto. The engine is a d16z6. I wanted to do a auto-manual conversion. How much would it cost? I'm a newbie so I would probably have the work done at a shop.

Also, I heard that JDM transmissions are better for acceleration due to the closer gear ratios. Is this true? Will JDM transmissions fit into a USDM d16z6?

I'd appreciate any info on this (prices, where to buy, etc.)

Thanks!
