ok. as some of you know, i just got a y8 block pan and crank that i plan on building for boost using Eagle rods, Virtias(sp?) pistons....and random other misc. parts. Turbo set up is still undecided because im not sure if i want quick spool, or a turbo that would give full boost at about 4K (under load) Im looking for about 200-250 whp. (basically anything over 200 will be dandy) but at the same time, i dont want to have to worry about breaking traction in the corners due to such sudden boost.
Im a Senior in High School and there fore im pretty much poor, so this project will mostlikley take all summer. Plus i start at DeVry for a 4 year degree (grad. in 3 though) On july 16, so i have barely over a month to work full time to pay for both that, and the build. Now, i will have updates with misc. things like cleaning and prepping pretty often, but actual progress; it might be a while. I hope to have the motor ready by winter, and then ill be hunting down a turbo set up (aquireing any good deals i find on the way of course;)) and hope to be boosting by that spring....all depending on cash flow.

sounds like a good idea, but i must tell you i was ready to start with all the parts i thought in november. i am still waiting to be tuned right now and i need to install two more parts and i will be done. it will take some time on your first build.

well, i learned friday that the government doesnt love me enough to give me tons of money for finacial aid...so i get to pay over 7k every 10 weeks(semester length) not all of it becuase my mom is "paying for it" but i know ill have to help her out some....at least pay for some books.
back to the build: friday i came home to a super clean garage....my gradma like organized all my tools on some shelf she put down there and sweept the floor spotless and all kinds of stuff...its so clean now....i wont have to trip over things to get some work done.:)
also...spent a little time cleaning up my block a bit...nothing crazy just little chunks of mud in some nooks by the where the head would be.....im not even going to ask "dudes96" how that happend:Dwhen i get home ill see if i cant get my camera and snap some pix....after i get back from the doctor[:@]
btw: im looking for a motor stand...i think im going to have to buy one on ebay...or harbor freight....no one around here has a stand..only a hoist. If some one could hook me up id be pretty happy!

*UPDATE*
So...now that summer is in full swing, i get to work pretty much full time, resulting in....LOTS MORE MONEY TO PLAY WITH! i work 4 to 5 days a week on second shift...witch pretty much sux because i stay up till 3 or 4 am and sleep till noon, which gives me about 3.5 - 4 hr. before i have to work and when i get off at 10 or 11, im left with a wal-mart for auto parts and stuff...and about all they have is over priced motor oil. any whoo....not much progress has been made on the MOTOR yet. but, i did order harnesses today, just too keep people in safely, and ill be getting a motor stand this week, with rods/bearings and a set of mains to follow...then next pay check, we should be looking at new pistons...which leads me to a question...are the Vitras (sp) made by Nippon? because i seen a set on ebay with rings and all that good stuff, even an oil filter:D for dirt cheap, but they said nippon on the box....but said vitrias as well...so, if its ligit...im all over them tomorrow...but if not...oh well.

i'm pretty sure you mean vitara pistons
i'd check out Sov Build Ver. 1.2 - EK Hatch in the project section or the "my z6 build" also in the project section for information.
sov could probably help you out with a lot of questions because he did a pretty great job telling us about his z6 turbo build. i definitely learned a lot from him
good luck with the build. damn, all these people building d series makes me want to keep mine instead of swappin for a b

d series are cheap, and once built they can handle like 300-350whp, so why the heck even bother swapping motors if you can just build up a d series a little
unless you want to be a n/a monster, then go h22 all the way, i kinda wish i went that route after i did it all, a built n/a h22 would be a FUN street car... and it would haul ass

yea...they do but its a real tight squeeze so maintenance kinda sux.
but any whoo...*UPDATES*
got my racing harness in...for those of you that said "if you get in a wreck, you could suffer from spinal compression and be seriously hurt in a wreck" no..im shorter than the back of the seat so the seat back takes all the "compression" but thanks for looking outhttp://a717.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/83/l_71f6b89be59303fa07ba120dba59d25c.jpg
Also, i just put in an MSD ignition...for those of you that the "modified cap/rotor/coil kit" is compatible with stock wires...WRONG thats what the jegs guy told me (he has had 3 real nice civics by the way) cuz he had to order my msd wires ( i get them tomorrow) but no, the stock ones plug "in" to the cap, the new cap uses plug "on" style. so im throwing CEL's and im hoping its just cuz the connection sux on the wires...but idk.
Also, got my engine stand and im starting to throw some money at that too. hopefully this weekend this kid brings his $300 so i can take it from him and buy pistons and a main bearing.
