I'm also looking to get a set up on my d16y7.. kind of wanting to do the mini-me swap, but...whatever. No time. I have an aem v2 intake and I'm looking to go custom on the exhaust to save some money. My buddy said to first buy the muffler you want and then go from there. Does it matter what size the muffler is eg: a skunk2  3" muffler as apposed to the 2.25" ?

the muffler size does not matter THAT much compared to the piping. the piping is crucial. if you got 3" piping, you definitely notice a huge lose on low end tq. best senario would be to match up the piping and the muffler inlet. however, if you want to go piece by piece, go ahead and get the 2.25, and not the 3"

if by "balls," you mean loud (obnoxiously), but not a ricey loud, get the apexi N1. you sound like your packing HP, but not really...

i believe the only Greddy they make for the DX model is the SP because the DX and EX have different style piping

you can get a universal muffler from greddy and have a shop make custom piping. it'll work out, and be cheaper in the long run

the muffler is about $200 (greddy is on the high end). welding it on will cost like $25-40. i can't find the universal one at the moment, but that's what it's usually around. i personally have a magnaflow ($88), and it's on the quieter side. i like it, so if you really don't wanna shell out a lot of money, magnaflow is a good choice; you'll just have to sacrifice the loudness...
