Youre both racing cars that were made for MPG, not MPH.  Honestly, anything can be made fast for a reasonable price with good ol know how.  A civic for someone whos looking to get the work done by a pro is a poor platform for a race car.  They take $ to be fast.  Want to go fast cheap?  Buy yourself an early 90's 5.0 mustang and spend like $1,000 on bolt ons.  Youll be in high 13s low 14s.  Civics werent made to race of be fast, so when you race your econobox and lose, dont complain.  Youre still getting good MPG!

Chip? Right. There isnt such a thing. Unless he somehow (also at the same time being retarded) has a hondata chip running STUPID lean and most likely going to euthanize his motor in about 2 months.

lol phantom it happens though, if you wanted a race car, shouldnt have got a Civic  i suggest starting a turbo fund and locking yourself in your computer room and researching for the next month, then race him again (but not on the streets of course)

Gotta love cruising on the highway.  I loved my turbo D.  70mph and not in boost = Crazy ass MPG.  I was getting near 50mpg in the turbo Z6.  (Not in boost lol)

an automatic is actually a better choice over a manual if the auto is built right with the right supporting mods (i.e. torque converter and final drive ratio).  no one can shift a manual as fast as an automatic can change gears.  with an auto you dont have to worry about missing a gear like you do with a manual.

manuals are more fun to drive as you have more involvement with the car, but it does get old in stop-n-go traffic.  and a manual will usually, not always but usually, yield better gas mileage than an auto since they have 1 or 2 OD gears.....assuming you're comparing it to a 4 speed auto.

Trying to build a automatic honda transmission is kinda like beating up a reatarded kid, it sounds good, and it seems to be fun, but for the most part it's a waste of time and you end up feeling stupid for doing it.
