and why is that?  you'd think with all of the aftermarket support that imports have that someone would make some strong automatic tranny parts

because stock honda automatics aren't designed to handle any significant amount of torque, and beefing them up to do so is kind of dumb, when the manuals are so easy to work with

I am not sure about imports, but it's not worth to spend all that time and money on the swap.  A built auto is pretty much superior to a manual.

in an american muscle car or a supra making over 1K whp.  Not in a honda civic.

It's the way Honda ones are designed, they will hold stock power but don't count on anything over that. Hell... a lot of them break with JUST stock power.

When it comes to Honda, you need a manual, or a clutchless dogbox via Liberty.

It is a weaker setup like a IRS on a RWD car with half shafts and such.

^ yea you can swap in a manual tranny, just need a new ECU and some other stuff. I dont know much about it, just that its possible. Pete has a boosted automatic D, its definitely possible....

^i like my automatic BUT i have to drive an hour to school in dead wall traffic so maybe thats why. but still i can race in mine despite the trasmission. it would be different if i was at the track but for the street, what difference does it make?
