When im racing the quarter is there any secrets to shifting that will give me an edge? I have heard of no lift shift, were you dont let of the gas while your ripping through the gears but i dont know howhardthat would be on my transmission? And what the hell is double clutching? ive heard about a million different explanations lol

it's really hard to explain and it make sense in your head, but the video is great demonstration

Double clutching is when you push the clutch in, shift into neutral. Then you pus the clutch in and shift into the next gear. You have to use the clutch twice, hence double clutch. This was done before synchros but all cars have synchros now and it is no longer needed.

double clutching will not give you any edge when doing a quarter mile time.. it will make you lost time cuz ur wasting it putting in neutral and crap. just get really good at taking off and quickly shiftin through the gears

Don't even bother with double-clutching... there's two groups of people that double-clutch anymore:
1) Truckers (on downshifts)
2) Kids that have seen tF&tF a few two many times and think the line "not double-clutchin' like ya' should" actually has something to do with modernracing
And Power-shifting (not letting off on the accelerator when you shift) absolutely kills your transmission. Just shift normally (though quickly) close to redline, and you'll be fine.

Make sure to shift before the redline because bouncing off the rev limiter makes you slower.

now some engine management systems have a setup to where you can full throttle shift. what it does is drop the rpm a few hundred when you press the cluch in,while the gas is still floored. its pretty cool, but you have to have a chipped ecu to have that.
