Default CA smog laws

if anyone knows the laws in california on motor swaps and smog issues i'd appreciate it. everyone seems to know them but they are all a little different, i'd like the real story.

When it comes to swaps, the engine has to be USDM and can not come from an older car than it's going in to.

what about swapping between different obd systems, ive heard you cant go to a different one, even forward, e.g. obd2 motor into obd1 car.

I got a book "honda/acura engine performance" by Mike Kojima I believe off of Amazon. I think it was like 13 bucks. It cleared up alot on engine swaps and what you can get away with "smog legally". And recently I started dating a girl where her dad is a DMV reffree. And in a nut shell believed it was pretty acturate. And I'm in Northern Ca
