I just picked up an 87, civic and would like to make a sleeper out of it, so I was wondering what kind of motor swaps I was capable of doing with the car and whether I could just drop in the motor and or what all modifications I need to make.  Can I do any that will still use the stock 5 speed manual tranny from the 1.5 or do I have to change that tranny to swap motors?  The car was free and it's basically just my beater but being the gearhead I am I can't leave it alone!  It's to slow and it ways under 2000lbs. so I want to upgrade and take advantage of that light weight!  Hit me with all the info u can give me!  Thanks for the help.
Brent

you could put a d16a1 out of an 88-89 integra. i think they are rated at 125-130 hp. and you could use your stock tranny, and it bolts right in.
