i got a 1988 civic with a D15B sohc dual carb and i want to put a biger engine in it pref a vtec, wats the best enigne for this

iv dun some research and i want to put a h22a 2.2 vtec engine and 5 speed gearbox into it but im not sure if it will fit, will it??

well...it has been done before, but ive read its a hard swap. One guy had a problem with his hood fitting and you have to realize how much wait that is in the front....if you dont have power steering its gunna be a fun time on those 3 pt turns. Ive been looking at it though and it seems highly possable and has been done....

it has power stearing, at do u recomend then other people r saying to put a B16A1 is that the best way to go??

Yeah, i got the same thing when i asked what engine to put in my 88....the b16a1 just fits all nice and dandy and everything....

this site had a lot of really good information on swaps and what the problems are for all of them

ok i might be able to get my hands on a b16a2 short block without the hear for next to nothing, wud that fit nice and fill it bolt onto the d15b gearbox??

i dont think so..im pretty sure you need a b16 tranny.....but dont quote that.

yeah, a b16a2 has an extra 10 hp than the a1 and if you can find an a1 tranny...it would bolt right on and and then you wouldnt have to convert to hydrolic or anything....or you can find a a2 trans but then your faced with the converting your car to the hydrolic transmission type..
