so yesterday i noticed that whenever i step on it it'll start to smoke once it revs up or gets into vtec i think. not really sure. thing is it only does this when at high rpms. when im just driving around it doesnt smoke or anything. could it be time to change all the gaskets? or maybe get it tuned?? theengine has never been tuned and i think im running rich but i dont know if thats the problem. i did some searching and came across that this is not an uncommon problem for the B series. but my question is what could probably be causing it to smoke and burn oil so fast.

I believe you already have what is known as "BlowBy" or loose compression. This means that your piston rings are already worn out if not broken. If prolonged, these broken rings can cause scouring of cylinder walls. This is where extreme gas pressure develops inside the engine block and oil goes inside the cylinder via the scoured walls. The higher the rpm, the greater the pressure, more oil inside the cylinder. Thus the smoke when fired up.

Looks like its time to tear apart your engine for a major overhaul or an engine swap.

I am also at a loss if the engine is relatively new. Barring any abonormal situations such as constant overheating and running without oil.

Have your engine checked then.A compression test should be able to verify what cylinder has "blowby."

If it's not happening before VTEC, my guess is valve seals. Oil pressure locks the LMAs in place to allow the vtec lobes on the cam to activate. Some of that oil is leaking in and being burnt on combustion.

If it were the rings on your piston it would smoke 100% of the time.
