If you're new to my build, you will need to read the first version. It includes all of the engine and transmission build along with any upgrades to the turbo setup that I had before joining the forums.

It can be found here:
http://www.hondacivicforum.com/m_334488/tm.htm

Shortly after this build was finished my car was involved in an accident in which a driver of moronic value ran a stop sign at 40mph and plowed into the passenger side front corner of my coupe.

Car went from this:

To this:
http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/crash1.jpg

At first I thought this was a bad thing... clearly it would seem I was correct. However upon further inspection I discovered that NONE of my aftermarket parts aside from some cold side charge piping was damaged. The car itself was a total loss, and I have recieved 5000 and the coupe back (which is now rendered a parts car). Being as nothing was damaged, I looked for a new car to start over with, and I found it.

I bought this 1996 CX Hatchback, 5 speed manual transmission, for $300 today.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/hatch1.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/hatch2.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/hatch3.jpg

Plans for the car are as followed, and this post will be updated as often and as frequently as I can, hopefully with pictures too.

Stage 1

The car is a CX, which means no power windows, locks, or mirrors. It is by all means, Honda's below 1965 standards Civic. Rolling down windows is a pain, as is having to open each lock seperately. I have an EX parts car, so we're going to do the full swap to make the car all power. I am also planning on dying the dash and door panels black (read, NOT PAINTING, dying). The car will also need to have the cluster swapped out for the EX one as the CX has no tach (the car has 60whp and a tranny that's geared to the moon, I don't think it CAN reach redline). What will probably need to be done is I'm going to literally have to pull out the entire dash and interior wiring harness along with the door harnesses and replace them with the EX harnesses... hopefully I can use the CX doors and install a window motor but I'm not sure yet until I get a good look at everything involved. But hey, that's what a build thread is for!

Stage 2

Remember that hefty check that the insurance company cut me? I sure do, and althought the coupe looked pretty good, the paint really sucked. It was scratched to hell, was dull, had dings and dents everywhere, what a mess. This one is getting the full makeover. Depending on what I can find when I finish this build, I would LIKE to do a 99-00 front end swap with yellow fogs and SIR headlights. The car needs a new front bumper and driver side fender, so I figure I can probably just replace it with 99-00 parts anyway. CF goodies will include OEM hood, Mugen style front lip, and spoon duckbill with the rear of the car being lastly accented by 99-00 tails. The entire car will be painted championship white (ITR white).

Stage 3

This will be when I swap the built D16Z6 into the hatch along with all of it's turbo components and pieces. I will need to mount the intercooler and cut the bumper before paint, during this time I will also be driving down to the local fab shop to have them redo my cold side piping since it was smashed in the accident. Depending upon what kind of money I have left I may also add an intake manifold, new throttle body, and 1000cc injectors into the mix. The car will then be tuned again by me and then trying again for the power goals that I set earlier.

Stay tuned, this is gonna be bad ass!

60 hp to 250whp ftw!

glad to hear you're painting EVERYTHING white and goign with the CF/white color scheme, i nkow its gonna look sick as hell. What about wheels though?

1000cc injectors??? **** Sov, can'tw ait for this thing to be done :D:D

lol this is ridiculous, i honestly get excited inside even thinking about this thread, and its not even my car!!! wtf?! What size injectors u got now? Are 1000cc realy necesarry, like i know you've got 12PSI on a badass boost leak, but what are your final expected numbers, and finaly PSI you are planning to be running? I've never seen anybody run over 450cc injectors, so that seems extreme to me.

I was tuning 16psi on the street and having around 68% duty cycle, and the car was still a bit lean. I have 780ccs on the car now. The rule of thumb is to be at no more than 75-80% duty cycle in order to prolong the life of the injectors, so I really do need to go bigger although I'm not looking forward to trying to idle out 1000cc lol. Remember I'm shooting for 400whp+ which is going to take about 25-30psi, the 780cc are going to be completely maxed. I would also like to run E85 on this car when it comes out so I need more injector for that anyway.

Lost, no the car was traded in at the dealer that my dad works at for $100. I asked about it just to see what kinda price they would give me, they decided to give me it for $300. Keys please? [8D]

400 at the wheels, is that the highest here on HCF? I see you over on TurboD16 quite a bit, i know theres some heavy setups over here, but i dont think i can remember anyoneh ere on HCF with 400+ is there?

I will have to let you know, as I'm going to need all of the harnesses and stuff from the coupe to swap all the power stuff into the hatch. I don't know what it's going to take until I get in there so we'll see. I don't want to ship them though, they're just too big and I am going to have my hands full for a long long time.

Dam, your engine build was deffinatly my favorite thread here, and when it said wrecked car i could have cryed lol, but this is gonna be so much better. I say good luck with everything, and document everything, it seems to me like you will be doing some things that need to be show how to properly be done, like the window and lock conversion, and the dying.

I do have one question, why dont you just take the dash out of the coupe and put it in the hatch? wouldnt that be easyer? or do you not want that coler either?

Quick update, got official ownership of the car today. An hour later the car had my del sol seats in it and I swapped out part of the center consol... the other half will be going in tomorrow (the hatches cup holders are broken!). I pulled a few more things from the coupe while I was at it. I pulled the suspension out of the coupe and put it in the hatch while I was at it too, so right now I'm slammed on steelies haha.

Pictures in the morn.

07-17-2007, 09:47 PM
cool, btw, what suspension setup are you running?

SovXietday
07-18-2007, 01:07 PM
Suspension is Koni Yellows and Ground Control springs. The ride is phenomenal, I've ridden in a lot of setups but nothing even comes close to comparing to how smooth the ride of the konis and grounds are.

Here's an interior pic so far, I have a LOT of work to do here though. I'm bringing the coupe back home this weekend after I pull the engine and such out at the shop, then getting to work on taking the entire dash/door harness' from that car and putting it into this car, ughlefuggle.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/interior1.jpg

I know, the seats don't look right. However, I beg of you, if you ever get a chance... sit in a set. They are some of the best seats I've ever sat in and they are cheap! Super comfy.

Here's the car slammed on some steelies.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/hatch4.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/hatch5.jpg

Haha, cracks me up. Put the wheels on when I got up, I need to adjust the suspension a little bit and they don't look quite right on the silver but that will change when I paint the car. Still looks good though, can't complain.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/hatch6.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/hatch7.jpg

Woo woo! I've got a lot of work to do lol.

Called around a little bit to get some paint prices, so far looks like the car will be around 1100-1400 to paint, which is not bad at all! I'm gonna purchase some Certifit 99-00 fenders and front bumper, then buy some nice headlights, CTR grille, get my CF hood, and some nice spoon knockoff mirrors. Then off to paint it goes! (hood will not be painted, I just can't drive around without one).

I've never thought about Sov Auto x-ing, lol. When do you expect this build to be over with? How much more do you have up your sleeve?

SovXietday
07-20-2007, 09:09 PM
Don't have much more up my sleeve right now, not that I have the money for anyway. I'm just gonna make this car look really nice and then put my engine and everything else back in and just have some fun. Might upgrade a few small things, but nothing crazy as I already have pretty much everything I want. There's no sense in spending more on the Dseries, it's a "budget" build (for the power I plan on making anyway).

I pulled the engine/trans out of the coupe today and then we towed her home on a flatbed. Tomorrow I'm gonna convert it to power locks/windows and I should have a good writeup for everyone when I'm done. Don't know what I'm in for yet, as far as I can tell it's just swapping out the door harnesses but I have to find out.

As far as when this build will be done, lol, we went through this last time. Whatever I say + 2 months. [8D]

Honestly it'd be great to get this done before I go back to school in September, but we'll see. It will depend on how fast I get my parts shipped and paint done.

I have 4 drag strips within driving distance, and the KOP SCCA doesn't run that often as far as I've been hearing. I don't know, I stopped looking into it over a year ago.

Kokasian, although you can't really see it in the pics, the car needs some body work. Has a few very minor rust spots that need to be taken out, and some deep scratches etc. Plus, I'm not a fan of silver because everything is silver.

God damn, this power swap is such a nightmare. I have to swap EVERY DAMN HARNESS in the interior. :|

Note - No, I was not aware of the work that I needed to do for this power swap, but when I start something I finish it. After today I'm about half way through, started raining so I decided to pack it in.

Here is the donor.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion1.jpg

And here is the donee. I'm beginning to like the stance of the hatch more and more.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion2.jpg

First things first, had to start tearing all of the parts that I needed out of the coupe. We did this stuff last week in about 2 hours. Afterall, it's easy to tear apart a car you'll never use again.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion3.jpg

Driver side door.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion4.jpg

Yes, that's my exhaust and yes, the end touches the trunk. :P

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion5.jpg

Dashboard from the coupe.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion6.jpg

Coupe as it sits now. My pop was going over the mess of wires over there by the fuse box.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion7.jpg

Passenger door.

Today I began to pull apart the hatch. Pretty much pulled or moved the entire interior. Why? Because the floor harness runs from the driver front corner to about halfway through to the door where it splits. One side bridges over the ebrakes and runs to the other door, the other goes back to the fuel pump and across to the other door latch. ****ing nightmare.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion8.jpg

Here's the hatchy after I already put half of the interior I wanted to in the damn thing.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion9.jpg

Sunny day, and all of a sudden I got rained on for about 5 minutes. What the crap!

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion10.jpg

Coupe dash harness.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion12.jpg

On the left, CX driver door harness. On the right, EX driver door harness. Yeah, about that.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion13.jpg

On the left, EX electronically actuated door lock. On the right, CX manual door lock. If none of you have ever changed the locks in your car, don't. It took me about an hour just to pull the lock out of the coupe, ****ing tamperproof stuff that I had to figure out how to get around. :|

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion14.jpg

Top, EX window actuator, bottom CX roll 'em up style hunk of crap. These weren't hard to swap, but pulling the CX one out of the car was a bit tricky.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion15.jpg

Driver side door just about done. Does it look any different? No, that's the worst part about these damn doors. You can'tsee****.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion16.jpg

Passenger side door half way done. I finished that up and then set up the wiring harness in the driver side door before it started raining.

Tomorrow hopefully the rain won't be around and I'll be able to swap the dash harness, floor harness, and fuse box.

Haha, not a clue what I'm doing. Honestly, went to take the locks out of the coupe and went... ok, there are 4 bars that go to a place that I can't see... wonderful. Took me about an hour to figure out how to get it out, but once I did it wasn't too bad and took me 10 minutes to pop the hatches out and pop the EX one in. I will try to do a full writeup on this when I get done, but honestly it's not worth doing unless you have a lot of time, lol.

That, and the tips of my fingers hurt like a mofo.

hey your getting your car repainted championship white. why not do a different white like that comes on the caddy trucks that color is sick. also are u painting the trunk area white also i love hatchs showing the metal in the back and painted to match. why aren't u swapping the dash out of the coupe in the hatch , you know even if u dye it with that dupount vinyl dye (spray gun prof. way to do it) that can still chip its a lil harder then jus reg. paint.

Woo woo, conversion is DONE! Was actually a lot easier than I thought it was going to be as far as today's events go. Once I had pulled the climate control and cluster out of the dashboard, I realized that I didn't need to pull the dashboard out to get the harness out. So, while my dad finished running the floor harness through the passenger side I pulled the dash harness and ran the new one.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion17.jpg

That's the old CX dash harness, notice how hacked the radio harness is. The stock radio was replaced with a tape player, yeah you heard me, a tape player. The interior also smells exactly like my grandmothers, so whoever owned this car was certainly female and old (which is probably why they could drive stick, lol).

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion18.jpg

Harnessless dashboard.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion19.jpg

Dashboard rewired and all of my pieces installed. Basic panasonic headunit (CD player), EX cluster, and the stock radio is pushed in the back of the dash so that I can have keyless entry.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion20.jpg

Passenger side door finished.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion21.jpg

Driver side door finished.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion22.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion23.jpg

Interior reinstalled and then vacuumed the carpet. Seats were then reinstalled.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion24.jpg

Working EX cluster.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/conversion25.jpg

Working CD player and all of it's units.

When we first turned on the car there were two problems. The first was that the CD player was not getting power. Grabbed a test light and found the problem, when we pulled the dash out of the coupe the aftermarket harness that I bought for the CD got caught on something and pulled the pin out. Needless to say, we repinned it in the wrong spot and the player didn't have any power.

2nd problem was that the windows didn't roll up. If you refer back to the first picture in this post, the CX dash harness is sitting next to the EX dash fuse box. There are three large relays at the top. The top left one says "PW" on it for power windows. Swapped that into our CX fuse box and walla, power windows.

Everything works like a charm. I have power locks with keyless entry, working power windows, a CD player, and a tach. Overall work, about 10 hours total, mind I had no idea what I was doing and had to figure out everything as I went. If I had to do it again, I could probably cut the time in half.

Was it worth it? Absolutely. =)

Now I have to go replace my dome light bulb, lol. I burnt it out with the doors being open for so long. :P

----------------------------------------------------

I'm pretty set on champion white absolute, reason being is that I'm trying to save as much of the 5000 as I can. I really don't want to pour it all into a car, although it probably will end up that way. Champion white is a stock Honda color, easy to respray a panel when it gets scratched (not if, lol, when). Paint will only be done on the outside, as the interior will probably stay in for most of the time.

I still haven't gotten the money, so date as far as paint goes is up in the air. Probably won't be for a while though, I want to get it done before school starts but we'll see how that turns out. Lots of work to do still, but so far so good. :)

Well I sold the coupe to someone who is going to fix it for a DD. I told him that he'll probably get it in a few weeks. So whatever came out of the hatch got tossed in the coupe for the guy to have, I just want to get my stuff out of it.

On another note, wired up my gauges last night. Built a wire harness and everything for them, so now all I need to do is hook them up to the senders when I put the new engine in.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/gauges.jpg

Someone gave me the carbon fiber bezel for free, picture doesn't do it justice. Since I have CF series autometer gauges, it looks like they are a part of the bezel. :) Like I said, gauges don't function but they sure as hell light up, hehe.

STILL haven't gotten my insurance money, so last night I fronted my own money for the IC piping that I need and I also purchased the new Synapse BOV because I got tired of the Greddy RS that I had. Couldn't wait for the money because the only chance I have to install the engine before school is the 11-12th of August, so that means I need to hurry up and get my stuff here.

Pics as it all comes.

Like you have no idea. I went from a car that traps just over 100 to a car that can't even reach 100.

Engine is going in next weekend, we decided to do that first. Yes the engine bay is getting sprayed black. After thinking about it I wanted to spray it BEFORE I painted it, that way I won't get any accidental overspray on the fenders or something like that. This week and next will be spent prepping so that I don't have to do any stupid wiring or mounting or fabbing.

250whp and 210wtq on 12psi running really rich and not enough timing. The BOV was creeping open and holding me at 12psi pretty much. I never got to dyno it once I got everything to work for me though.

theblackpearl

so sov, you said you spent around 5000 to build it to that power right??

so do you think it would be cheaper to get to 250-300whp by building my y7, buying and building a z6 or y8, or swapping out to a b series and building that? probably a turbo with all the options

SovXietday
08-04-2007, 09:42 PM
The entire engine has about 1200 in it including headwork. It's ready for ~400-500whp no problem. The transmission has been regeared and has an LSD added to it, it has nothing to do with the strength of the trans though.

The turbo setup itself is what costs all the money. Bseries/Dseries not withstanding.

theblackpearl
08-04-2007, 10:52 PM
just curious, what do you think the engine will be pushing out without the turbo, would it be just like stock??

so you spent around 3800 on the turbo?? did you buy a turbo kit, if so, from where?? or did you put one together yourself??

ej6buddy
08-04-2007, 10:56 PM
lol, without the turbo, it would probably push barely anything considering he's running low comp pistons. well, maybe stock power or more, idk. and he definitely pieced all of his parts together.

theblackpearl

didder
08-04-2007, 11:57 PM
go to the nitrous/sc/turbo section of this forum and there are about 3-4 stickies and one of them tells you the parts you will need and others just have a lot of good info. actually, i learned 90% about my turbo setup from sov, he can tell anybody thats just getting started what they need to know / do.

Here, I'll put it this way, I spent about ~4K on everything I need to turbocharge the engine correctly. As far as I'm concerned, the clutch, injectors, fuel pump, and Hondata S300 (or any EMS) is just as important as the turbo itself.

My new Synapse BOV came in last night, it's pretty damn sexy. I'll get some pics of it tomorrow.

Oh and without the turbo, uhh... 115whp because of the cam if I'm lucky? Lol, the car's a dog out of boost.

I'm having trouble getting the flange off, I need to put an aluminum one on there and they use these tiny little allen wrench locking screws. I hate those ****ers, because of course I can't get them out.

I'll get them off sooner or later but it's just annoying ya know?

Oh, what is it. This is a Synapse Engineering blow off valve. It's one of a kind piston actuated blow off valve. No diaphrams and the best part is that BOOST HOLDS IT CLOSED!!!! No more leaking under boost! :)

That's about it for now, I have my piping coming in the mail tomorrow and on Tues I'm gonna probably mount the IC and prefab all the piping. Going to try and get it welded up before I put it in, but I'll probably just have someone quick weld the BOV flange on and then hose clamp everything and wait until I get the new bumper and fog lights before I get everything welded up and finalized.

I still get better gas mileage than most of the stock vehicles on the road (~25mpg average) and it costs me like $28 to fill up from E. It's not a big deal at all, I don't even look at the prices anymore I just pull in, gas up, and leave.

You figure it comes out to about 7 dollars a gallon times 30 gallons about 210 dollars on gas for one weekend that sucked. Now you can see why my new hobby is my car to lol.

hey sov, do you think you can post up a pic of your wastegate, i would like to see what it looks like and how it's connected to everything.

i asked my turbo buddies but they all said that they have internal stock wastegates and aren't really sure how it's connected.

one more thing sov, where did you get your vitara pistons?

i researched online, and all i found was like ten people telling me to pm fjt on honda-tech, but i can't message him because i think i haven't posted enough there or something. anywayz, did you get your pistons from him, or somewhere else?

I got my pistson off of FJT, he's the only person who sells them, you can also PM him on turbod16.com, I don't believe their's a trial period on that site.

Yessir, the only info I could get for you was that he can do it, but he has no idea what the price range would be without more info.

Did a few things today. Mountd the APEXi earlier this morning.

Woke up today at 6am and my dad and I drove down to the shop and got right to work. First things first, finish up pulling the little **** out and cleaned up the engine bay.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap4.jpg

Installed the new radiator and bolted the crossbar from my traction bar on. Completely forgot some of the bolts for it though, so I only got the crossbar on.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap3.jpg

Assembled the fuel rail, injectors, IACV, and TB on the new BLOX intake manifold.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap5.jpg

Car was ready for the engine.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap6.jpg

Engine's in and we started fitting up the intake manifold. The runners are very long compared to the stock IM, so it was a bit of a tight squeeze to get past the firewall. Nothing terrible though. =)

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap7.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap8.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap10.jpg

Well I think the next is the obvious.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap9.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap11.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap12.jpg

^ That was finished by 11:30AM, took a lunch break there.

Ok, time to put on the exhaust. We weren't too sure if it was going to fit up right because the exaust was originally constructed for a coupe.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap13.jpg

Piece one fit no problem. It goes from the turbo all the way to the rear axle. However, the small axle back piece needed to be shortened. This was a big issue being as the pieces didn't exactly want to line up and the muffler is rather big for the room it had to fit in. So we had to do some cutting and welding, mind we don't have much experience with this and with so little to work with it came out a bit crooked and slanted, but oh well, function > form.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap14.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap15.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap16.jpg

Then moved on to the IC piping. I had to fab up the hot side.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap17.jpg

I need to adjust it a bit, after I put it all together I realized... oh ****, the arms on the traction bar don't fit with this here. :| Ehh I'll fix it in the morn. Moved onto what I fabbed the other day.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap18.jpg

Got to here and got mad at it and called it a day.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap19.jpg

I need to put an extra long coupler on the 45 you see laying there in order for it to work since the throttle body got pushed back about 4" by the intake manifold. D'oh. I'll get it all welded up later, but I want to get it boostable.

Finishing up tomorrow, I'm so beat.

the wastegate mainly controls the amount of boost right? can you take closer pictures of your of your wastegate again? i wanna know where the hole right under the wastegate leads to.
sorry for making you do this, but the internet doesn't tend to show clear pictures that really show how a turbo is really set up, the internet only explains the process or function of a turbo system

The hole under the wastegate gets vented to atmosphere, not much else to see. You're not going to see anything else if I take super close up pictures, it's very simple. 2 pathes for the air to take, one goes through the turbocharger and spins the turbocharger, the other goes through the wastegate, skipping the turbo and either can be routed to expel to atmosphere or go back into the exhaust. It's nothing complicated at all.

Engine's in.:)

Ok, started off this morning by putting the torsion bars on the traction bar on. Bolted everything up and put the piping back on.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap20.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap21.jpg

Moved on to the charge piping. It's weird when you spend an hour trying to figure something out, put it down, come back the next day and figure it out in 5 minutes. We cut about 2" off one end of the 45 and put the couplers in, not perfectly straight but it works. Also put the new BOV on, the vacuum line was changed significantly later.

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap22.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap23.jpg

After that, all we had to do was wire up the gauges, boost controller, and wideband. We did that, and that was it. Finished at last!

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap25.jpg

http://users.rcn.com/dwilz/reswap26.jpg

By the time I got home I had to reclamp a coupler lol. I put some hair spray on it, hoping that does the job. She facking moves though, and the traction bar makes a huge difference in having traction.

Also got my check for the coupe today, so I'm going to put that in my account and start ordering parts. =)

Debating whether or not I want to change the injectors out, I really don't feel like retuning partial throttle right now although it's not really that huge of a deal. I think I'm going to wait for E85 to come out before I bother upgrading the injectors, in which case I'll need to retune anyway.

Need to work out the charge pipes blowing off issue that I have, then I'll get some dyno time and make some power.

E85 = 85% ethanol and 15% 87 octane

Ethanol burns WAY cooler than gasoline ever will. Not to mention it's rated at something like 108 octane. Yes, it does take 30-40% more fuel in order to combust correctly so you will get less gas mileage, but it's generally priced a little less than standard 87 octane.

In other words, I could drive around like I'm on race gas 24/7.

Seriously, when it comes to high horsepower cars, the cost of gas is nothing.

I replaced a whole front end of a 98 chevy through them for about $250, and a 99-00 conversion was gonna be somewhere in the same range for parts. Not a fan of the CTR wing personally, too flarry for my taste. I'm like very simple smooth body lines. The spoon looks just like stock only a bit bigger.

I'm not sure myself on how the HID kits work, I will have to wait to get mine in before I can figure out what's going on. A friend of mine has a kit, a cuttoff, and can see sooo much better than I can with his lowbeams so I decided to go with them. What the hell right, lol.

ya just be sure to adjust your headlights good and it will be fine.... i have mine adjusted about right and ive never been flashed.... but some people slap the HID kits in and get flashed all the time.LOL cause they dont adjust thier headlights.

i wanna do a retro fit BUT they just aint cheap to do :(

can someone explain to me what a retrofit is and how much money are we looking at for one of these kits?

and i'm guessing that they're not just light bulbs right, gotcha

retrofiting hids consists of geting a car that CAME STOCK with HIDs taking apart thier headlights to remove the HID housing which is what aims the light beam and everything, also its HID bulbs and ballasts... THEN taking your headlights cuting a BIG hole in them and then securing the new HID housing into your headlight housing... and NOW you have a SUPER SICK LOOKING cut off beam and NO GLARE at all from the HIDS... and also TYPICALY most OEM HID ballasts fire up instantly.... most aftermarket HIDS give ya a FLASH of light then dim down and within 30seconds are to thier full brightness.
heres what ya take and make it fit in your headlight housings...

its the only way to get THIS kinda cut off beam...

tho with doing this kinda swap ya need to do your reseach... cause some HID projectors are beter than others.... and most the time they are more expesive as well.LOL
check out HIDplanet.com i think they talk ALOT about them over thier....

don't take out the computer, what if they have to move it around a little. but i guess writing down the mileage sounds like a good idea.
