I have a light green Civic, and on the Meguiars web site it says the polish works best for darker colored cars. Should I skip the polish step because it won't do anything or should I give it a shot? Has anyone tried it on their lighter colored car?

i say give it a shot. polishing isnt going to hurt it regardless of the color of your car. make sure youre doing all three steps in a shaded cool area or it will make it look sh!tty. let us know how it goes.

good luck!

Not to hijack but why must it be done in a cool shady place? I end to do mine in the hot ass sun and it still looks good but i only do one part of a panael at a time then wipe off.

the hot car panels cause the product to dry too quick. not allowing you time to work the product. you should do ALL of your cleaning in the shade. it's easier on the finish all around

I cant argue that because the damn polish wold dry in seconds lol. What i do i just do small areas at a time.

Next week ill try to do it in a hsady spot but its hard for me because i dont really have anywhere to do this and tend to do it in the street by hand with no buffer.

Well, I did the polish and the wax today and it turned out really nice, it's a perfect mirror shine all over. Just because your car isn't black doesn't mean you can't use polish!

riiight.....i have never heard anyone say "Only polish your car if it is black, or only black cars look good after a polishing" A good wash, polish, and a good quality paint together should equal a good looking mirror finish.....but good stuff, try the NXT GEN polish that Meguiars put out a while ago, it works very well.

This post is a little old but I'm in the process of the Meguirs 3 step. I actually just finished step 1 but we've had 102 degree weather with heat indexes at 120 and so the only time I've been able to do it is at night when it is cooler in my shop under the lights. If you read the directions on step 1 and 2 it instructs not to let the wax dry but to wipe off when still wet. Only on step 3, the carnauba wax, are you instructed to let dry. This is the first timeI've ever used Meguirs, I hope its worth the $20 I spent on it.

Well, with black cars its not as easy. Because by the time you rince off the soap and move to a different spot it will get dry spots. And your car will get sun damage eventually, thats why I use Zaino. Their polish has SPF in it. A real hassel if you ask me, Black is the hardest to clean, but sexiest when clean ;)
