I have a honda civic 07 stock. I got a 16.6 with a r/t of .518. How high should I rev my engine before take off? I revved it as high as I could but it seemed like that slowed me down. Is there a certain way to get a good take off? Do you guys think I can get my car in the low 16s?

i get my best launches when i launch between 4 and 5 k, and then i feather the clutch out. The more u practice the better u will get. Its all about feel, feathering the clutch the right amount to get max power to the ground, but also trying not to break the tires loose.
With 225 tires, i am also able tear off the line with no with spin.
put some mods on there. I have intake, exhaust, dp, and pullies. what i difference.
but the best way to get your times down, is learn your car, and practice

reaction time has nothing to do with your ET. you could sit there for a week once the light turns green, and you would still run the same ET.

if you provide your vehicles trap speed (1/4 mph) and your 60 foot time, I may be able to lend more advice as to where you can shave some time.

But doesnt the time start when the 1st person starts going? cause the guy I raced got a .03 r/t

itis my understanding that the time starts when you roll past the stage light

Oh I thought it was whoever 1st rolled over the stage light. Anyways I found my slip.

I got a 16.6

0-60ft 2.4 seconds

83 mph

the 0.3 r/t was his reaction time. for his lane. the .5 something was for just your car. his times don't have anything to do with yours. you watch your times. that means he quicker at the go. when you see the last yellewer give it. i usally rev mine between 3-4k. like mention above go down a couple of times and just see where you launch better with out spinning and no wheel hops. power shift. gotta kinda sweep your foot off the clutch, real quick motion. practice lots, on roads where there is no one around for 50 km.

im guessing that you have a base model civic, manual transmission? i think that with some practice, you will be able to get into the lower 16s. one of my cars runs 15.9s to 16.0s, and traps around 87mph with a 2.36 short time. i believe that with some practice, you can get your short times into the 2.3s, and at least get down into the 16.40s or so..

also, how was the weather than you ran?

your launch technique is something that you will have to figure out on your own, as how hard you can launch a car depends on MANY factors, the biggest of which is track conditions. you want to find the exact point at which you can come out of the hole without spinning....but without bogging it down at all.

oh, and your reaction time has NOTHING to do with your ET..trust me. your ET starts when your RT ends. ive seen heavily built turbo cars sit at the line, with the light green, for 8-10 seconds before launching, and still run in the 10s...

Launching is different for each car and driver style... a 4-5k launch is pretty high. It will work for a bit but when feathering your clutch that much for a launch you will burn through it pretty quick. Especially when making multiple passes in a short amount of time. Also, start your "reaction" about half a second before you think you should. Thats how long it takes your brain to process the action and send it to your foot, lol. Seriously.

Your 60 foot is actually not to bad for stock tires and such. But in all honesty practice is the best way to better your times. All due respect to all the people here giving you tips and they are great tips but in the end it is up to you.
