I have a honda civic 07 stock. I got a 16.6 with a r/t of .518. How high should I rev my engine before take off? I revved it as high as I could but it seemed like that slowed me down. Is there a certain way to get a good take off? Do you guys think I can get my car in the low 16s?

reaction time has nothing to do with your ET. you could sit there for a week once the light turns green, and you would still run the same ET. if you provide your vehicles trap speed (1/4 mph) and your 60 foot time, I may be able to lend more advice as to where you can shave some time.

it is my understanding that the time starts when you roll past the stage light

im guessing that you have a base model civic, manual transmission? i think that with some practice, you will be able to get into the lower 16s. one of my cars runs 15.9s to 16.0s, and traps around 87mph with a 2.36 short time. i believe that with some practice, you can get your short times into the 2.3s, and at least get down into the 16.40s or so.. also, how was the weather than you ran? your launch technique is something that you will have to figure out on your own, as how hard you can launch a car depends on MANY factors, the biggest of which is track conditions. you want to find the exact point at which you can come out of the hole without spinning....but without bogging it down at all. oh, and your reaction time has NOTHING to do with your ET..trust me. your ET starts when your RT ends. ive seen heavily built turbo cars sit at the line, with the light green, for 8-10 seconds before launching, and still run in the 10s...
