So I got a really good deal on a 92 civic. Problem is its a DX. I know that that really sucks, but I think it really has some petential. I have a little money to invest and I need a plan on what to attack first off. It only has a 106 thousand miles so I am not sure if the b16 swap is a good idea yet. I know I need to put some coilovers and a camber kit on it ASAP, but is that the fist thing I should do?</P>

Please help!!!</P>

well it depends on if you want the looks first or the perf. the springs will do a little of both but they wont get you any more power. exhasut and cai are the first things i would do. they are cheap effective mods.

well, it came with a a short ram intake, and 3A racing 2.5 muffler, but where I live it's legal to run a test pipe, so I was gonna put that on rather than doing a whole catback system. the only other easy upgrade I know of for the engine was a header, but I was gonna wait on that for after my engine swap</P>

might as well wait if that is the case

good luck with the civic man. </P>

Research around the net before you might spend/waste your money on something you will regret buying later.</P>

personally if there sumin you want to wait to do till you got the engine swap, you should wait for everything before you do the engine swap cuz whts the point of moding the engine if your only goin to swap it for different engine anyways. just do what you thinks best for yer car, i just think you should do what will save ya the most green in the end!

Of course its got potential, its a civic engine. If u cant mod these engines then u need a new hobby. haha<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"></P>

yeah, Ive never been a fan of the b16 swap, personally. I say go turbo, yeah!</P>

do the swap...its a dx with 106k on the motor. if you really want speed a b16 is a great choice. you can turbo that little dx all you want but you will never get the same results that you can get from some dual overhead cam action.

I was talking to some people at work, and there is a guy with a b16a ebgine with like 52k on it. He only want 1200 and that is with a GS-R transmission. Like I said, i am new to this whole game, but that sounds liek a really good deal to me. If I do buy the engine, which is currently in a 94 civic hatchback, is it gonna take a lot of mods to install? What all am I gonna need for the swap

If ur getting a b16 engine for cheap then go for that, but me personally would just skip all the little B.s. pop an H22 in there and call it a day. Theyre not that much more $$. Thats just me though. I think its time to be different. Everyone has a B16a powered civic these days, Im more for even a B18C - Type R or something - everyone has a B16 these days though. My Favortie would def be the H22. You could also do LS Vtec or LS Turbo ... but w/e<edited><editID>6thgencupe</editID><editDate>38113.5758101852</editDate></edited>

i know evrybody has a B16 motor but if you can get for a good price then go for it but make sure you do look the stuff up before you waste your money in any mods to this mtotor, but have fun and good luck

Hi I am new here...sorry I don't mean to post this in your forum topic but the layout of this website is sooo busy...I feel overwhelmed.

I just bought a 2000 civic like 6 days ago. Anyone here with the same year?

Oh I have an LX model

Don't add any engine modifications to the DX engine especially with that much mileage. It's not worth it. It will still be slow. DX body is light, very light which is great. Save your money & get the B18C engine for your car. You don't need the JDM B18C, the USDM B18C5 will be good enough.

My suggestion, if you really want to upgrade something on your car right now, go for the suspension upgrade first. Coil over & camber kit are great to do for now. Good set of tires are also another thing you can do to improve performance.

I agree. I think the suspension is always a good place to start.

I agree with H22 but it's kind of risky cause they tend to break axles cause they have so much power and the stock axles on the civic can't handle it. I know 2 guys who this happened to.

About the swap I would swap any B-series in there like asap if you have the money. Idealy a LS-Vtec. But if your budget is not too big stick with the B16 and go for that cheap deal. Good luck mang! [8D]

I dont know about all that... they are good engines, but they dont have that kinda torque.
