Talk about a disgusting day here in PA. 90 degrees and we might as well have lived a mile under the water it was that humid. I wasn't sure if it was sweat coming from my pores or the water from the air building on my skin, but I was drenched. I grabbed the electric saw again and sent the blade screaming through the metal bumper support. God that was loud I thought as I turned the blade on the plastic bumper skin.

This weekend the engine goes in, so I've been busy trying to get all of the little stuff out of the way. The as of now stock CX hatch was getting it's new front end ornament fitted on. A nice big aluminum intercooler. I mocked up the intake side piping and BOV placement and put the pieces strewn about the garage back onto the car. When I was done, the car was equipped with about 20lbs of dead weight, and you can blatantly see that there is no piping connected to the endtanks. :P

I do most of the more extensive work with my dad at his work. He's got all of his tools and a lift there, I'd be stupid not to. We finished up and I hopped back into the del sol seats and fired up the car. I was met with a rattle from the heatsheild and slowly pulled out of the shop. My pop on the other hand sat into his 1990 Si hatchback and led the way through the parking lot. It's more or less stock, he rebuilt the engine not too long ago but we suspect the cylinders are out of round as she still burns oil like it's cool. It also has a slipping clutch, but otherwise my dad takes good care of her. It's probably the only EF in PA with a perfect OEM paintjob.

Leaving the shop opens directly into a two lane road. Both of us go at the same time, I'm right behind him and suddenly I see the light in front of us go yellow. I pull over into the right lane and stop next to him, where upon I push the button to roll my windows down (this will no longer never get old).

My dad reaches over and rolls down his passenger window (ha!).

Dad: What?
Me: Bring it on pops.
Dad: You know I'm gonna smoke your ass right?
Me: It's your last chance so you should take advantage of it.

We both laugh and he revs up the Si a little bit. Both of us wait patiently for the light to go green, by 8:00 there is no one on these roads anyway. I rev the hatch to 4000, green. I don't even bother slipping the clutch, I dropped it and smiled as the car bogged like it was window high in mud. I look to my left as my dad spins the tires a bit and pulls till I'm even with his back bumper. I know I'm screwed, he's got the weight, horsepower, and gearing advantage, I just thought it'd be cool to lose for once. I keep my foot on the floor as the car slowly climbs the RPM ladder and my dad starts pulling cars on me like a turtle does a snail. 40mph comes... oh right I need to shift. I shift into 2nd and get comfortable again while I watch my dad slowly walk away. I sit back with my foot on the floor as the needle came around to 6000. I was reaching 70mph at this point, thank you Honda, and watched as the needle struggled to muster itself through the last 1000rpms. I gave up waiting and smacked the shifter in with a grind, apparantly someone managed to destroy the 2-3 synchro in a ****ing CX. Honestly, how?

I rolled up to my dad and looked over. He was in tears laughing, and I don't blame him. The speed of this car deserves to be laughed at by the masses. I laughed at what just happened and followed him back home. Oh well, car won't be slow for much longer. =)

Cliffs:
Yeah, I really did race a CX.

nice setup... but you cant talk about bad weather, haha. It was 114 here in Tucson the other day. Its usually dry but with the monsoon season it was about 80% humidity. Talk about hot.
