View Full Version : Question about Armor All Tire Shine....
Fritz 08-08-2007, 10:15 AM Hey guys, I just joined this forum and there is alot of awesome info on here. I have a quick question about something I bought. I just went and got some Armor-All Extreme Tire Shine Gel. Does anybody else use this. I'm hoping this is a good product. I 've always heard good things about Armor All stuff so I think I'll be aright. At first I was just going to buy the Tire Shine for 6.99. But then I found the Gift Pack which included the Tire Shine, Powerwash Gel, Protectant Wipes, Glass Cleaner, Wheel Cleaner and a Micro-Fiber Wash Mitt. All for $10.00. I think thats a good deal. Anyway if anybody used these Armor All Products before I really wanna hear about how you liked them. Thanks so much guys.
SilverSedan 08-08-2007, 02:50 PM I dunno about anyone else but I've used Armor All on my tires and the look great...for afew days then the start turning a sh*tty brown color. not to bad if you don't mind re-applying it every few days
that_guy5 08-09-2007, 02:22 AM yea that stuff works great i used on my car. just clean the tires with tire cleanerreally good then with a sponge apply to the tire nice and even. depending on the shine apply more or less. good luck
My04Civic 08-09-2007, 04:14 AM i use that gel, it works great. no complaints here.
s2000gtx 08-09-2007, 10:55 AM i use the Foam Armorall tire shine it works great for me
EWilliams2000Excoupe 09-15-2007, 08:01 PM Just so you guys know, and I know it makes your tires look great and everything, but that stuff eats your tires up. Seriously. It isn't good for them.
Forty04 09-16-2007, 07:39 AM can you support that claim?
Champ white FD2 09-19-2007, 09:53 AM Armor all splatter all the time, after a quick ride, your inner fenders will be covered with those sticky stuff.
I recommend Meguiars hot tyre shine, they're proven good, no splatter and it gives the best wet look shine.
2slo4u 09-19-2007, 09:58 AM I like this stuff. More Shine, Less Time

BX_Civic 09-19-2007, 10:28 AM I use the armoral gel but as stated above you have to clean your tires well first so that it actually gets on the rubber not on top of dirt.
Its just like all my silly friends who's dash board is like dripping in arom all cause they never clean it. I use hot hot hot water to clean all rubber and plastic with a pinch of dishwashing soap for interior peices and some car wash for the outside peices and it works great.
Takes a bit longer but my shine lasts longer and they dont fell all slimey and what not.
burgernuds 09-28-2007, 04:48 AM im getting this brown crap all around my tires, what is that? i dont drive on dirt!
BX_Civic 09-28-2007, 05:54 AM You just need to clean your tires more often. Like actually scrub the rubber part down with soap and hot water.
Any thing plastic or rubber on my car gets washed with realy hot water and soap atleast every 2 months, that way i clean off all old armorall and dirt.
Then afterwards i reapply armorall and they lool great again and they may not be shiney for a long time but they never look dull or brown.
burgernuds 09-28-2007, 06:06 AM oh wow, i got these tires in july, never washed before. ... driving on the freeway for the past month every day i've just noticed the ugly brown after a rain
BX_Civic 09-28-2007, 07:19 AM Yeah just give them a god bath and reapply and they should be much better.
burgernuds 09-28-2007, 09:17 AM what brand do you reccomend? I don't want something too bright that will outshine my rims... but something I can get at autozone or kragens
or pep boys... oh yeah what should i clean my rims with?
BX_Civic 10-01-2007, 05:48 AM I have the armor all tire gel thats specifically for tires.
As for the wheels i use mag cleaner. I forgoet the brand that i use but its something specifically for wheels. Most important is i have a nice brush thats stiff but not like brillo just for my wheels.

are you serious? it never occured to you that you might need to wash the tires?
tires are probably the most important thing on your car....literally all that stands between you and the road. you should take better care of those than anything else on the car.
motor blows up....it wont flip you over, eject you from the car, and kill you
tranny heads south....so you have to ride the bus to work a few days, but you're still alive
paint gets scratched....yeah it sucks major ass, but you're still alive to fix it
tires have a blowout....you might get lucky and keep it under control, but on the other hand you might NOT be so lucky....either sending you off the road, into the ditch possibly flipping you over and hurting you seriously or killing you OR sending you into traffic...again, either hurting you seriously or killing you and/or others
there's something to think about next time you're cruising along at highway speeds lol. and chances are good that you wont ever have a problem out of your tires, but you never know. i haven't had a flat on my vehiclein several years, but had a blowout on a trailer about a month ago. luckily it's a tandem axle trailer and didn't cause major damage. just shredded the tire beyond recognition
gocoho 10-01-2007, 10:07 AM - have used original Armor All on my tires and interior forever, don't like wet looking tires, just like them to look black - don't get it on your steering wheel or shift knob!!!
ranger4620 10-14-2007, 05:53 AM i recomend meguires products all the way. i use their hot tire spray on my tires. never had any brown on my tires and no sticky stuff like with the armor all gel.
**Alan** 10-22-2007, 09:59 AM hey guys i used carpet cleaner for awhile on my tires it wont give you the shiny black look but it will keep them black for a long time . but ya since this is a armor all thread i used the gel stuff on my tires now :D

madmat3 10-22-2007, 07:19 PM I use Meguiar's Tire Spray...very easy and keeps your tires looking new. Just make sure you wash and dry your tires completely before applying.
