Turbo kit....
OK way serious newbie question, but imma make it as basic as possible what the heck is this???
http://full-race.com/store/product_i...products_id=36 turbo kit Like i have just been looking up different kits and stuff, and the kit says 400+ HP, does that mean that for 4000 and then 100 to put it in, my car will have a boost in HP by 270......... im so lost.... because i have been thinking about it all, but im ujst not sure, im just now getting into the speeding up my civic scene, and on the way i have a CAI, and a aeroturbine exhaust thing, and im also wondering if a turbonator.com thing inside the intake would do any good.... but i dont know what all i am supposed to know befor getting into speedin up my car so i can race it one day... i dont want to swap to a new engine, so... oh well help me out what is best? |
RE: Turbo kit....
The kit looks like it's designed for B series engines only (civic si/integra). If you have a 2001 ex, that won't work. 450 hp without beefing up the engine? Sounds to good to be true.....

RE: Turbo kit....
yeah, its your standard B-series turbo with an intercooler, blowoff valve and standard install stuff. There is no way you could just throw that on your car and not mess up your engine. You would need to strengthen your internals first, so it will run you over $5000 in the end. It would be really fast though. If you want something a little cheaper that can be used with your stock internals check some of these:
http://www.turbo-kits.com/civic_turbo_kits.html on the right it says HP gain, thats what you will get out of it. Efficiency is how much the turbo can handle (not what your engine can). Its cheaper to get one without an intercooler, but thats a huge HP loss. I highly recommend an I/C if your serious about boosting your civi |
RE: Turbo kit....
that kit seems kinda expensive. i bought the all pieces for my T3/T04e turbo kit off ebay for about $1200. it dosent have the piping though. any performance or exhaust shop can do the piping for about $500 at the most.

RE: Turbo kit....
$1200 for the turbo, intercooler, BOV, and all the fittings. If you say so.

RE: Turbo kit....
so you are saying i have a D17??? according to this
For Engines: D17 Boost: 6 PSI HP Gain: 56% Increase (safely on stock engine) Turbo Efficiency: 325+ HP Direct Bolt-On: Yes Warranty: 5 Year on Cast, 1 Year Accessories Ball Bearing Upgrade: $400.00 - T28 Dual BB Turbo Fuel System Upgrade: $350.00 - Includes SAFC (or VAFC) & (4) 440cc Injectors Fuel System Downgrade: -$400.00 - Removes all Fuel Management Parts from Turbo Kit SO if i bought this turbo kit, i would be looking at a 200hp engine basically...... im already at 127, then with this kit 56% --> 198HP??? |
RE: Turbo kit....
Im pretty sure its the D17A2...
you would be just under 200hp at the flywheel. HP to the wheel would be something like 168 (whp) for a manual and like 158 (whp) for an auto. |
RE: Turbo kit....
D17A2 ok gotcha......
and whats the difference between hp at the flywheel, and hp to the wheel?? |
RE: Turbo kit....
hp at the flywheel is usually 20-30 hp more than wheel hp just because it is before the tranny
|
RE: Turbo kit....
is it really 56% power increase with just 6 pounds of boost? that would be awesome if it were true, but i thought it was more like 40-45%
