try it and if not upgrade as needed, start with the front speakers(go to componets, image dynamics on sounddomain.com are great) then a head unit. I have never had luck with sony head units

As far as bass is concerned, I recommend Kenwood or Kicker subs. I got 2 MTX 12" and I love em. If you go with MTX though make sure you get them in a sealed box because I had blew out 3 MTX subs in a week with the vented boxes.

well i know someon with 4 x diamond d6 woofers in th back of his fiesta and that was seriously mental.
bt i think the're pricey.
but the more you pay the better the audio quality.
i always buy a better amp then sub aswel.

To be honest, some might scathe me for this, but most woofers in your price range are gonna be about the same in overall quality, so I say go with a reputable company like kicker or alpine or even RockfordFosgate. I had a pair of RF a long time ago in a ported box and they hit pretty hard for the price I paid (I got them off ebay). Basically, your not going to be getting a performance system, so the difference between lower end subs of almost any brand is not big enough to fret about IMO.
