Default 97ex vs. 5.0

a while ago my friend bought a 5.0 idk wat year it is i just know its one of those squared out one and its convertible well he came over this weekend and and brought his car ... my other friend has a 95 hatch with a t25 turbo on like 5psi well they were arguing about whos car was faster and finally they raced and the hatch took the 5.0 by like four cars ... i was like wtf ... somethings not right cus i heard those cars are suppose to be pretty fast ... so then i told him that i wanna try my car against his ... my car is all stock other than an intake ... well we lined up and he counted and he took off first oh i forgot to mention his car is automatic ... well he took off first and gained like half a car on me i shifted at about 65k to second and was gaining on him by the time i got to third i had little more than a bumper on him and then when i got to the top of third i had like almost half a car on him and i just let off ... but wat i thought was wierd was that he shouldve beat me by alot ...if anyonehas anything that would explain this it would help me out cus ive been thinking about it all weekend ...

Its because his has an auto, and the motor is prob running crappy. Theyre not that fast, but definetly faster than a stock civic.

They take mods extremely well. Jon Huberbuilt up a 4 banger of that style (although it wasn't a 5.0) that ran the 1/4 in 8's.

from the factory they are slow but they take to mods really well so it doesn't take much to get them going

A decent driver and a 5 speed would have left a stock civic in the dust.

id take a 5.0 fox over a civic, i almost got a notchback, theyredees, its like the civic of muscle cars to me, because theyre so modifiable, convertible fox stangs are way heavy tho, a coupe or hatch with an intake would take alot of un-swapped civics

5.0 fox body mustangs can be amazingly fast with very few mods. I don't know if I'd take one over a civic because they don't handle all that well and drink gas. However, if I was going to build a drag car, thats what I would get.
