I've got a bunch of rust in a few spots on my car and I'm wondering how to get rid of it. This rust was all there when I got the car (sister got a newer car.)

I'll won't have the car for all that longer so I don't want to spend a whole lot of money paying a shop to do it. If it would be relatively cheap (~100-150???) I may spring for it, but otherwise I guess it's fine.
Good luck on the price. Rust repair is fairly expensive. I have 2 rust spots on my car, about the size of 2 coins in each spot. They gave me a quote of upwards of 2 grand...

well if you aren't going to have it much longer dont worry about it. But if you want to fix it a bit for selling purposes, id say figure how much you could get for the car after you fix the rust, and how much you can with the rust, because you may end up putting a 100 or so into it, but then you won't even get that out of the selling price either way.

If it hasn't eaten through, get some POR-15 and follow the directions for applying it. If it HAS eaten down pretty far, you'll want to cut out the bad metal and weld in new metal. I'd look at replacing the whole panel if you want it to look nice. If it's on the unibody, I hope you know how to weld.
