Atleast pad the bars Mossy.....i just dont think its a very good idea and seems like the money could be spent elsewhere
He's boosting the car, I think he's got a pretty well laid plan ;)

Give me good reasons why he shouldn't run a good WELD IN cage, and I'll take what you just said seriously

EDIT: weld in would be better than bolt-in, i'll give you that for sure

I think rollcages are ugly, but can someone explain the point, I mean if it's not a car such as a professional racer drives, what is the point ofa rollcage? just curious, thanks!

There's many reasons for getting a cage...

1. Have you ever felt your car flexing? Well that'll be happening way less with a cage
2. If you're running certain times or in certain competition you have to have a cage or your car won't be allowed to run
3. Have you ever rolled a car? I'd rather be in a caged civic than in an uncaged one..

RE: overhauling the whip

ORIGINAL: FlipHKD720 yeah rollcage on a DD isn't very safe man....but other than that should be super sick! And PLEASE paint the lips to match
haha, cmon man. i wrote the DIY article on how to paint. you think im not going to match them?

and thanks for coming to my defense tony. the cage is really the last thing on my list for when theres not much left to spend money on. and the cage i was looking at getting is dd safe due to the front bars being very low, not at the headliner level. so worst case scenario i bump my elbow now and then. even thats unlikely. i just want one to stiffen up the chassis more and i also want to start doing some club autox events next summer.

ill fire up a project thread once the parts start flowing in. ill probably start a thread to buy all my old parts as well, ill give good deals. keep leaving ideas and suggestions!

RE: overhauling the whip

i'd suggest just a bolt in roll bar from like Autopower. their "race" roll bar series is a 4 bolt on point with harness mount tube. pretty cheap, easy to install, and wont hurt u in an accident. i may be getting one of theirs possibly next year. just dont see the need for a full like 6-8 point cage..

RE: overhauling the whip

there really is no justifiable need for one. i a just trying to build a completely race ready car that i can also use as a dd. also i just think cages are badass

*UPDATE* 9/26/07

The turbo install as just begun. We got the intercooler mounted and all of the ic piping in place. The turbo itself wont be installed until next week because we are waiting for the tuned ECU and oil line kit to get here. Also the turbo manifold and heat shield are getting some cosmetic stuff done before we bolt everything up.

Also this week a few changed were made to the interior. The Jenson touch-screen head unit was installed, the steering wheel was installed, and the Ractive **** boot and billet plate (not shown) were installed. The plate matches the floor mats really well. Also the black guage is a tinted boost guage, which is obviously not yet function. More likely than not all of the guages will be replaced with the cobalt series.

Heres a pic too of the muffler i am having installed today to replaced the big carbon canister.

In the mail on its way right now includes:

-Front and Rear mugen lips
-M3 style trunk lip spoiler
-Si taillights with the white part smoked out
-8000k HID kit
-Stealthmode turbo oil lines
-Chipped ECU
-ECU harness

I'll keep updating as quick as things keep coming in.
