all right, the more i read the more unsure i become, please respond with 1 choice per person, in your oppinion what is the #1 chioce for a swap into an '88 hatch. accounting for ease of swap, power, torque, and all around sleeper.

o.k. i've noticed that most other posts dealing with this subject, you same three guys usualy mention b18a/ b18b/ or b16. why the b18c/1 or you got a link to some tech on this puppy

b18a would be the easiest swap, but for ease of modification, the b18c1 is the best. of course a b18a or b20b-z would be a hell of a sleeper because even when you get on the throttle, you wont hear the VTEC changeover, so people wont automatically know you have a swap. and they can be made REALLY fast.

but the thing with the b20 is that the block isnt made for vtec, so the cams dont get the oil they need, and after a while, well, u get the picutre.
but personally for me, id wanna swap a b18c5, its scary how fast thye can be
oh i never said anything about VTEC. i would be hard pressed to EVER do a dohc head swap. screw Frank. dohc vtec motors are zero balanced from the factory, thats a huge part of why they can reliably rev to 7800-8500. dohc non-vtecs are NOT balanced as such. so it wouldnt be long till you had pistons flying through hoods or oil pans. the b18a/b-b20 would be a cheap way to get fast, but not a good route to keep going and going on the mods.
