oh yeah, i had to cut some of the carpet away in the trunk to expose the strut bolts, wasnt hard..
civic96lx 10-03-2007, 07:21 PM yes i know my engine is very sad! =..(
97civicruiser 10-03-2007, 07:31 PM I don't knowman, I always say you get what you pay for! Those strut bars look pretty wimpy=-( But hey if that's in your budget and you think it made a differance I guess that's all that matters.
POLYTHING 10-04-2007, 07:26 PM the looks not so good, but serve me well. :)
Live_4it 11-11-2007, 03:01 AM Yea, I got the four piece set off ebay. Great buy all around. For the most part you want to stay away from ebay generic items but no problem with these, and many other people feel the same way here on the forum.
Been a year now with them on, none of them broke.... or fell apart and I am def a spirited driver to say the least. If you want to pay the extra $100+ for a name go ahead.
addiction2bass 11-11-2007, 07:30 AM dito... i like the cheap strut bar.... nothing expensive...
only posible way i would pay for a name brand brace is if i had a wicked motor/turbo setup that saw some wicked driving as well.... then i might pay for the name brand brace....LOL
civic96lx 11-11-2007, 12:31 PM ha! exactly.. hows the p car comin??
90civicoldskool 11-11-2007, 11:30 PM is that an ebay intake too? if so how do u like it?
civic96lx 11-12-2007, 07:17 AM yeah it is.. not exactly sure how effective it is.. but it sounds cool when i accelerate. ahaha. pretty solid build, pretty basic though, fits just fine.. no problems really.. at times i a screaching/ whistleing sound from i the manifold i think.. i had it looked at, couldnt really tell the prob.. seems like when the manifold butterflys and sucks in air it does it.. around 2000 rpms.. although you just have to adjust the way you accelerate with it.. i dont really mind it.
addiction2bass 11-12-2007, 11:55 AM ya only downfall with the ebay intakes are thier filters.......
eventualy you NEED to upgrade to a good filter.... just measure the opening and buy accordingly to that size....
i have a AEM dryflow on my ebay intake tube..
windcalmer 11-12-2007, 03:27 PM That bay is in need of some serious lovin!!! LOL
So is there any flex if you grab the bar and try to shake it back and forth?
civic96lx 11-12-2007, 04:32 PM ha! yeah i know.. umm. no not at all. pretty solid peice! :)
97civicGSR 02-28-2008, 10:27 PM AHHH!!! another DX do-er!! i did the EXACT same set you got from bestcarpart too!! ya they are real good. i've had mine on my car since august, even went through a fender-(SMASH)-bender and they were still tight and not bent. i got the upper front, upper and lower rear on mine.
i also did the SAME ebay intake as yours, i had to trim just a little tiny bit on the manifold side (because im anal) to get it to fit my way.
the whistling your hearing is standard for any ebay intake. its the filter causing disruptive turbulance down the tube. dont worry about it, just turn your stereo up (thats how i always drive anyways).
Im putting a GSR into my car on the 5th so im gonna be selling my d16y7 and everything else that goes to a swap. Any takers?? motor has 145k on it and has been seafoam cleaned and runs GREAT. im gonna put a new timing belt/waterpump/tensioner kit on it when i get the swap done.
but ya, just use good judgement when buying on ebay, dont go TOO cheap with stuff. you have to look at the basic aspect of the item, compare both items builds.. its best if you can visit a local shop and get your hands on both a good one and cheap on and see the difference.
I did ebay strut bars, intake, header w/ a custom test pipe from a muffler shop (ILLEGAL), ebay muffler, ebay springs (Maxspeed).... so far the only thing out of all that that i dont like was the Maxspeed springs. they are ok, but stiffer then my eibachs on my CRX.
heres a pic of my engine bay without the header on it.

Big EZ 05-05-2008, 12:51 AM i got a set of those strut bars too and the did make a world of difference in th handling. honestly i woul say they decreased body roll by half. my civic rolled all over the place when i bought it because i dont care to slow down for curvs, and with these, my energy drink doesnt even fall out of the cup holder anymore.
look something like this.

croninc 05-05-2008, 09:44 PM seems like we got a little strut bar and intake club going on here lol. Hmmm I'm thinking about getting some of these now lol
AgentRomance 05-05-2008, 11:05 PM yea, i did ebay struts, cold air intake, and short throw shifter. got a deal on DC headers tho.[i was gonna go ebay headers]
but it all gets the job done.

Mini-me Swap[pre-header set-up]
sde780 05-26-2008, 09:57 AM Just ordered the front and back for $31 shipped, how exactly did you guys install them? take the top two nuts off that hold the suspension in place, put these in, and torque them down? did you have to jack up the car?
ATL96LX 05-26-2008, 11:44 AM ive got a factory integra strut bar on mine it fits lovely if it helps any? i dunno but i like how it looks
sde780 05-26-2008, 02:19 PM What year integra? thats great news, i bet oem strut bars are better than these ebay ones
ATL96LX 05-26-2008, 04:52 PM its off a 94-+ integra...it doesnt bolt into the same location tho...you have to drill holes on the hump just above the strut towers where the aftermaret ones bolt...ill take a pic tomorrow..
ATL96LX 05-29-2008, 04:55 AM heres a pic of mine i took last night

sde780 05-29-2008, 04:32 PM IMO it kinda defeats the purpose of a strut bar, but props for trying something unique

in the post above you is not a strut bar, nor is it unique.
hence it is factory:

and might as well throw up a pic of my bay with the strut bar:

ATL96LX 05-29-2008, 07:48 PM well seeing as my car didnt come with one...it is not factory for my car and the fact that it is a honda factory part...it actually fits as opposed to the EBAY issue...

i wasn't contradicting any of your statements. and when a part is factory, it doesn't have to be included on your trim, as long as it was designed and manufactured from honda, it's factory. and what's the ebay issue? fitment with no name bars aren't related to ebay, it's just because some people don't adjust them properly before connecting them, thus they just go ahead and say it doesn't fit right.
sde780 05-30-2008, 06:17 AM ATL96LX drilled holes to fit the strut bar, i dont see how its factory? im on my phone so i cant see ej6s engine bay clearly
ATL96LX 05-30-2008, 06:40 AM well either way I like the way it looks...if it does anythng at all i dunno but it looks pretty cool to me...[sm=rockinit.gif]
addiction2bass 05-30-2008, 08:04 AM ya that bar is OEM or close style to a SI brace.... FACTORY ;)
even if you have to drill holes! lets face it the NOTCHES for the piece where already in the metal. ;) you just had to drill the tiny cap off and then instal them. nothing to special.
and dito to the people with ebay stuff just not adjusting the rod ends right.LOL the problem with ebay stuff is they dont come with instructions. and well people that are not good at diagnosing a problem and fixing it just give up to easy and say IT DOESNT FIT....
hell when i got my ebay intake i thought WTF how does this fit. i think they sent me the wrong one... but it fit perfectly after i sat back and figured how it was suposed to go and drilled one hole into it for another rubber line. very minor.
i must say tho....LOL i hate the looks of those motors, well more less the straight up intake piping...
and just for kicks ill add a picture of my ebay strut bar in front ;)
i had the rear one as well but gave that one to my friend since it would hit my old stereo setup.

ATL96LX 05-30-2008, 08:06 AM looks good!...
KnightRiderCivic 06-02-2008, 06:51 PM yeah change the filter...you can get a good AEM filter for like 40 bucks at Advanced Auto. But whatever you do dont get the full cold air intake....it will suck water for sure....you need one with a bypass like the AEM v2. As far at ebay strut bars...they are more for looks than performance...which is what most people get them for anyway. I had one on my civici when I bought it...and I see no reason in changing it till I do alot more suspension work and motor work. but keep it up man....peice by peice just make sure its what you like dont be a sheep like some import kids these days.
addiction2bass 06-02-2008, 06:59 PM for looks..... EXCUSE ME.... i believe you are wrong...... for looks people go with brand names.LOL plus its not for performance... it doesnt add any power... its for better handling.[8D]
you go slap a ebay strut bar and take the car out for a test and you can feel the difference instantly. i like my ebay strut bar but definatly not for the LOOKS.LOL looks like a cheap turd but it works great!
ej6buddy 06-02-2008, 08:50 PM fronts, not so much, i got it for looks because i believe it's the only one that fits correctly with the y7 intake design and aem piping route. i mean, it is pretty strong considering i can stand on it without any interior flex in the bar, but i just got it for looks because frontal flex in 6th generation strut towers are very minimal. however, now the rear, my nrg bar is a lot stiffer and can handle a little rear flex, which is majority of what helps in a civic. basically, if you're looking for zero movement, then fab up a three point solid tower bar made of either solid T6061 or a hollow stainless equivilent.
