Alright so I decided to go ahead and pull the block out of my 99 si to save some cash adn pretty much just the experience. I already took the head off but was gonna leave the block for the guy swapping in the new engine. I don't have an engine hoist also. Any suggestions or tips on gettin the sucker out? I'll be able to work on it every night after work for the next week so i have tons of time. I'm doing this strictly by eye, no manual or anything so everything helps.
I saw the pics in your other thread, you really need to pull EVERYTHING out of the engine bay. I see the intake manifold is still sitting there, the distributor, the engine harness. That will all need to come out to put the new motor in, so you might as well pull it now. Is the trans off?

Ive never pulled a motor before, but I would like to eventually. Why not google it, see if you can find a good DIY.....Some pics and info could save you some time, and broken parts.

Yea I actually just came up from doing all that, took the hood off also. Wiring harness is still in there but detached from everything, its a mess though. IM, Fuel Rail and distributor are all out now. It got dark and my halogen lamp broke [:@]dagnabbit.
Tranny is still in unfortunately. To pull it all I have to do is pull the halfshafts out and disconnect the bell housing and all the mounts correct? Easier said then done...
Tommorrow night (10-6)
-Put it on stands
-Remove Fenders, Headlights and bumper (for ease of movement and damage prevention)
-Remove A/C
-Start pulling the halfshafts?

Take out the engine harness. It will be easier to put it on the new engine while that's out of the car. You'll need to pull the battery and disconnect the harness from the ECU.
To get the trans out you need to pull the axles, the shift linkage, the clutch line, and a couple of sensors. But if you are going to get a hoist, just leave the trans attached to the engine for now.
I wouldn't bother pulling the fenders, just toss blankets over them or something. They'll be a pain to realign. I wouldn't even pull the bumper/headlights unless I was working in a REALLY tight space.

I don't see what the fenders bumper and headlights would change... As for the block.. hey it's a 1.6, without the tranny its not that heavy. You can probably drop it on the ground and then have a friend help you.

Did some work today, things that have been removed include:
Full Harness
Starter
Alternator
A/C
Headlights
Fenders
Bumper
I also Broke loose all the bolts on all the mounts and the tranny bolts, Popped the upper ball joints out, and I guess the bolt through the fork in the suspension, the Hub bolts are off also.
Any tips on pulling the halfshafts out? Thats where I got stuck. I've pulled them fomr the hubs before but Haven't been able to get them out of the tranny for some reason. Is there anyway to do this without pulling them?
