Default no 5th or reverse???

Hey i got into my car today and went to start it when i noticed i had way to much play in my gear shifter so i get out and look under my car and for some friggin reason my linkage was out of my tranny, so i jacked up the car after makin a call to my dad to bring a jack, well i had to use an alan wrench to put in it and i have 1st gear through 4th but no reverse or 5th gear at all, any ideas.....the car is a 95 civic ex 5 speed, new clutch no grinding in tranny..

put a pin back in it, the wrench may be hitting, keeping it from going all the way over to 5th.

That sounds like the most likely problem.

oh, or its too small, so the same amount of movement of the shifter doesnt move the shaft in the trans as much to the side as is needed.

yes that is the problem, it moves the same amount just doesnt go into gear, as if it doesnt even have a reverse or a 5th

along with the "bitch pin" dont forget to buy another shift linkage roll pin retainer. youll need that so it doesnt fall out again.

true, though i doubt a new one would fall out. though as hard as those little bastards are to get out, i never thought an OLD one could fall out.
