I WAS GIVING MY CIVIC A TUNE UP AND WHEN I TOOK THE SPARK PLUGS OUT I NOTICE THEY HAD OIL THE LOWER PART OF THE SPARK PLUG. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT COULD THAT BE, HOW MUCH SO U THINK COST TO FIX IT AND IS IT WORTH FIXING.

Could be a few things (wrong plugs, wrong gap, plug not firing, bad wires, ect...) but you could be developing a ring problem. Make sure you replace them with the correct plug at the right gap and make sure they are all firing. If that checks out, run it for a few days and check the plugs again.

after you try that, do a compression test and then drip a few drops of oil into the spark plug hole, then do another compression test and if the compression is noticeably higher, then you have a ring problem, also, the compression test will show if the engine has other problems, like dirty valves(very dirty) or a blown head gasket. its a good thing to do every once in a while.

check the valve cover seals, the ones that seal the plug hole. usually those will leak, and when your removing the spark plug oil will get on the threads as your taking them out. ddoes the car smoke at all while running?

MY CAR DOES SOMOKE ALL THE TIME, I THINK THE SMOKE IS BECAUSE THE HEAD GAKET MIGHT BE MESSED UP

If it's smoking and you have oil on your plugs.......sounds like a rebuild may be in your future.

IT HAS 89,000 MILES, I THINK I SHOULD JUST BUY A NEW LS MOTOR BECAUSE I GOT ALL THE BOLT ONS THAT I COULD PUT ON THE ENGINE. IAM LOOKING TO BUY AN LS AGAIN. I JUST HOPE THAT THIS MOTOR LAST UNTIL TAX RETURN SEASON BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO BUY A MOTOR NOW.

What other problems can one look for if the car is smoking and you may not NEED to change or rebuild a engine? What site or contacts can one find a good B16 for a swap?

white smoke in the morning upon initial start up. black smoke can be tuned out. as far as a good site to find a b16.....ive gotten a few from import auto salvage in nc...also japan direct, some also use nippon but i have received 2 out of 3 that required a rebuild through them.

you stated in pm that the smoke is black/grey..... black smoke is caused by running to rich and can be tuned out with an safc or such. it wouldnt have anything to do with the head gasket. grey/white smoke is caused by rapid cooling of the combustion chamber caused by coolant/water getting into the combustion chambers. this could be caused by the head gasket. but if the headgasket were installed wrong on a honda, it will still run fine, although 2 of your head studs would have been pushed through the headgasket.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN RUNNIRNG TO RICH AND WHAT EXACTLY DO I NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM? AND HOW CAN PREVENT WATER FROM GOING IN THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER I THINK THE HEAD GASKET IS THE ORIGINAL FROM FACTORY AND NEVER BEEN CHANGED.

running rich=too much fuel.....there are many things that can cause this from bad air filter to leaky injectors........water into the combustion chamber can be caused by many things including bad headgasket to a cracked head/block.

Sounds like you need a technician you can trust to check the car over for you.

when ur spark plugs are getting flooded with oil, would'nt your car have problem starting?
