I'd also like to put a sohc vtec in my 93 civic hatch.  I just bought the car and the body is solid.  The motor on the other hand is more or less like an old 2-stroke dirt bike.  Does anyone know if this engine (E-bay Item number: 290207439401) will bolt and wire right up to my 93 or would I have to send out the ecu to be chipped.  A buddy of mine who mostly works on RX-7's said I might have to do this but I thought mabye the computer was already set up for vtec.  Answers anyone?

Thanks
Dave

I was looking in the ecu section and found a website   http://spoonhonda.com/index_mozilla.htm and it looks like I can use my stock ECU to go vtec and I just have to buy one of these harnesses.... i think

When you buy the hole kit you should get it with the ecu that way you know everything is copasetic.  You are going to run into compatability problems if you try hooking up a non v-tec ecu to a v-tec ecu especially if its from another motor.

I'm thinking if I buy the d15b vtec engine it will be a direct bolt in with no wiring changes because these engines were in these cars in 92-95 ..... right?  I just want to replacemy old tired motor with a fresh motor from japan.  I dont want too much hassle putting it in and am not too concerned about extra power.  I just figured for a couple hundred bucks more for vtec and if the ecu is already set up for vtec.....why not.  By the way the car in the pic is my old civic not the 93 just in case you all thought I had my years wrong.

Sorry to break your balls man but the D16Y7 is non-VTEC.
