I was wondering if you could put a VTEC head on like an EX or an LX or a DX, If so what would it take to do all of that.

Thanks,

ummm im very sure all ex's have vtec as far as civics are concerned. you can however use the sohc vtec heads on many non vtec blocks with few minor modifications, this is called a mini me conversion.

96-00 civic ex = d16y8

92-95 civic ex/si = d16z6

both being sohc vtec's. the y8 having a better cyl head combustion design for improved detonation resistance. the z6 having better oiling capabilities.

id like to see you install a dohc zc head onto a sohc block.......lemme know how you get around that one head bold that wont line up as well as the water pasages that dont line up. all d-series sohc heads are interchangable, dont forget we have a dohc d.

you know what were both wrong to a point. the d13a2, d15a2, are not compatable with 88-00 sohc. both are found in the 87 civic/crx carb models.
