how to hook up TV sound through receiver/stereo?

Ok I have done this before and it's soooo simple but I just can not think right now for some reason.
How do I set it up so the sound from my TV goes through my receiver and out my surround sound system?

I wana get this set up before I watch my Packers tonight!!

Obvoiusly its a bit too late to help you with the Packer's game, but.. All you have to do is run RCAs from the audio OUT on the TV to the audio IN on the receiver.

That is, if your TV is new enough to have Audio outs

well it depends, you'd get better quality running a coaxial audio out if your tv has one. If not RCA's will do. Plug them in to the outs on your tv and the in on your receiver.

also if your tv doesnt have any kind of audio output, you can also try using a VCR and use its tuner, run the cable into the antenna in on the back of the vcr, and connect the other one to the tv... and i know for damn sure most vcr have an audio out put...so there that can help you for future games
