RE: washing rims - 4/7/2008 7:37:04 PM    TheJGB3 Posts: 79 Joined: 3/18/2008 Status: offline I like to use KIT carpet and Upholstery cleaner (from SCJohnson) it's a yellow spray bottle - gets the brake dust and dirt off.  And if you have painted wheels use PLEDGE, yes the furniture polish from SCJohnson Wax (a family company) works awesome!! RE: washing rims - 4/7/2008 11:06:45 PM    croninc   Posts: 223 Joined: 2/23/2008 From: San Leandro Status: offline i used degreaser and that worked really well just let it sit for 2-3 minutes and using a toothbrush with some elbow grease also works good, then just spray it off, DONT BUY THE DEGREASER WITH PATROLEUM or how ever u spell it because if you get it on ur tires they will dissovle in front of you eyes lol, sames goes for you engine if you use that kind of degreaser because it will dissolve your seals. I always wash my rims everytime I wash my car(once a week). Get the inside of the rims also, it's tacky to have a clean wheel on the outside with a half rim thick layer of dirt on the inside. I don't use wheel cleaners or anything similar because it leaves a haze. Also for tight corners that cant be scrubbed with a sponge I use an old tooth brush always does the trick. (in reply to addiction2bass) Post #: 19

What we do is spray the degreaser all in the wheel well, tire, and of course the wheel it self. Let it sit, use sponges and brushes to clean all in there. If it's really bad we use acid but that's always in a worst case scenario.
