Yep, I'm leaving the rice side. I'm probably starting this thread a few days too soon because some of my parts are not here yet but this is what I have got so far.
It isn't so much that I don't like body kits or big rims anymore but it has just become impractical to me anymore. I have been having a problem with my rear bumber hitting the ground and breaking and then I have bent my 18" rims about three times now so I have finally decided to lose the stuff and be able to drive my car instead of baby it. Since I can do my suspention work now (body kit was already low so I couldn't lower it anymore) then I will probably pick up auto-xing next summer if they meet close enought to me. I'm still not gonna lie, I know I will like it being clean but a part of me will always miss the way it is now.
What I have already done:
1. Replaced body kit rear bumber with stock bumber
2. Ordered Si tailight replicas (shouldbe here monday)
3. Ordered 16" Spoon replicas, made by Drag with Nitto tires. (Will be here moday for sure)
Here are my plans for now:
1. I'm not going to install the rims until I get my sideskirts and front bumber on because they will lower my car too much.
2. I just picked up a magnaflow catback but it has not been shipped yet so I don't know when it will be here. When it gets here it will be installed the next sunday along with a dc sports short shifter that I had laying around for 2 years and never got around to installing.
3. Type R front and rear lips.
4.I am getting an air compressor, paint gun, and impact wrench for x-mas so I am taking my wing off then having someone weld the holes for me then I will sand it down and paint the trunk myself.
5. Tein SS coilovers with top mounts, I decided I wanted something a little better than just shocks and springs.
I still need to find some side skirts that don't cost a furtune, I sold mine for $35 not knowing what they were worth so I am gonna lose money buying new ones...[:@]
Hereis a picture of where Istarted from in the dericing process. It is dark right now or I would get current pictures, I will do it tomorrow. Just imagine it without the lambos and with a stock rear bumber.

lol Ouch.
Anywho...
Rims and taillights got here at about 12 while I was still at school. It was like x-mas came early when I got home, but then I remembered I paid for them.:)
The rims aren't actually going to go on until summer because I don't want to chance messing them up, steel rims will be replacing the 18" rims here in a week or two.
I have a question about my taillights, my clears look like they only have one light in each housing (total of 4) and my si replicas have a place for 2 in each (total of 8). But I was looking at them in the dark so I'm not sure. I'm guessing I need to buy all new lights, anyone know where to get them. Surely advance auto would have them but I don't like going there because they have no f-ing idea what they are talking about so I have to know exactly what I need. I hope I don't have to re-wire the lights also, that would be a pain in the ass since it is snowing outside.
I also think I changed my mind about the lips too, I think I want mugen style lips instead of type r's because you can barely evennotice there is a lip with the type r's. I was also looking for some fog lights and the only place I can find some that fit my 96-98 is on ebay and I would rather buy them somewhere else, anyone want to hook me up with a link?

Are you talking about the OEM square and circle fogs? You can try passwordjdm ones, here are the square (http://passwordjdm.com/PasswordJDM-EK-96-98-Civic-Fog-Lights-YellowSquare-P1427C164.aspx) and here are the circle (http://passwordjdm.com/PasswordJDM-EK-96-98-Civic-Fog-Lights-YellowRound-P1426C164.aspx) ones.

okay finally time for an update.
Peg, I got my wheels from www.discounttiredirect.com (http://www.discounttiredirect.com) They still probably aren't going on for another month :(
I don't know if I want fog lights now either, I kind of like the look of it without them but maybe I will get them later on. As things have went I decided to start a nitrous project also as some of you might have seen that thread, well it took up all my other money so I don't have the money left for the coilovers now so it will not be lowered for awhile.
Okay, on to the pictures (sorry they are a bit smaller this time):
Rear almost done, Si replica taillights installed, stock bumber, and no park bench on the back. I will install the rear lip when I change the wheels because that will give me more room for the drill.
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd277/MrMobstaMan/nowingsitaillights.jpg
I also ordered a new vanity plate but it hasn't gotten here yet.
No more lambos: (I must admit... I still kind of miss them)

Lets play a game... How many car parts are in my room? lol
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd277/MrMobstaMan/roomwithcarparts.jpg

YeaIwas thinking about it yesterday about how long it took me to get it the way it was and now I put it almost back to stock on the outside. What a waste of money that was. I took the lambos off because the shock that makes the door go up and down kept losing their power and I got sick of replacing them
(ebay crap) I might buy another set of them awhile down the road but next time it will be a quality kit from Vertical Doors Inc. not crap from ebay. The z3 fenders are gonna stay, my taillights aren't tinted at all but I will probably do the red part later on, I am planning on it but I'm not looking forward to doing it so I am putting it off for awhile.

The one appearance mod I do like is the lambo doors and those exact vented fenders(reminds me of the buick gnx). Other than that keep it pretty much stock looking with sporty rims/good low profile tires/better lowering suspension setup and add perfomance mods.

Okay I guess I have been neglecting this thread a bit. I got side skirts about a week ago but I don't have any good pictures of my car back together. Last Saturday I took the fenders off and repainted them, put the trim pieces on them then reinstalled them along with stock side skirts. My car was looking pretty good, all one color again, all major body work finished and looking real good to me then Monday night this happened:
To add to the wonderfulness of the situation I had my nitrous bottle filled last week and I was going to be at the track this Saturday (may 10th) but now I don't have anything to race... Insurance adjuster came yesterday and said it was totaled. I have no solid plans on what is next, I am going to get an estimate on getting it fixed anyway even if it is totaled if I don't have to loose too much money I will have it fixed, if not I am not sure what my next car will be but I am most likely sticking to civics.
Some info on the accident:
I was on a back road taking my girlfriend home from town and this red truck with a huge brushgaurd (those big bumpers made of piping) on it [basically a nice big battering ram] was following me at about 60 mph (45mph zone) and I put my blinker on and starting to slow down to get onto my girlfriend's driveway, the truck didn't see me slowing in time plus he was on my ass to begin withso he didn't have a chance to stop in time so he tried to swerve around me, but I was already turning so he didn't have anywhere to go but into my car. After hitting my car his truck continued into a pole that was about 12in think, taking it out, then continuing onto the hill beside the road and his truck was almost vertical on the steep hill. I have bad whiplash and muscle spasms and my girlfriend just got out of the hospital yesterday from just about the same injuries but she took the hit harder than me for some reason even though she also had her seatbelt on and the car was hit on my side, not hers.

dam........... sorry to hear...........
is it just the rear quarter thats all crushed? or did it get into the doors or front?
but IMO it looks pretty bad..... what i would do is buy it back.... and then just look for a civic with a blown motor or a front end wreck if your front end parts are still good....
but i dont think id go thru all that trouble geting that rear quarter replaced....
Mr Mobsta Man
05-08-2008, 05:43 PM
All the way down the side, its just most of the impact happened at the 1/4 panel. The fender was only being held on by one bolt anymore (it's fiberglass) and I figured it would fly off while they were towing it to my house so I pulled it off the rest of the way and threw it inside the car before they towed it. Also needs a new door (or the sheet metal, but I don't know which would be easier or cheaper) This was my first car and I have had it for 3 years and it is what got me interested in cars in the first place so I am going to do whatever I can to keep it and not swap my parts onto another civic. I think the trailing arm in the back is either bent or shoved inward because the wheel has some serious negativecamber. The tire got stuck under the fender and sliced up pretty good (only had about 1-2k miles on these rims and tires) so there is some real problems in the back. My idea is to get a body shop to fix the quarter panel then I will fix the tire and trailing arm and whatever else is broken mechanical, I can do that stuff but I can't do the body work.

well IMO find out how much the insurance company will pay out for the car and how much it costs to buy it back from them...
if your cars got al power options then you can always buy a cheap dx and swap all your power options onto it... make it into a nice EX ;)
IMO with suspension damage you dont know what kinda damage is there until you replce the parts and get to a alignment shop..... i wouldnt risk it IMO.
just buy your civic back and keep all the nice parts, motor, tranny nitros stuff and then think about it... YA GOT A BACKUP MOTOR and such ;) incase ya give it alittle to much nos.LOL

I see it as an excuse to get a rear disk conversion... Insurance should be getting back to me soon about what they are going to give me for it and the buy back price. After seeing what sov had to do to make that hatch have power everything I say f that. Not worth it to me, I do like the idea of having another engine lying around though because after I switch to a direct port and put maybe 8-10 bottles through it and get good at reading plugs I might try pushing a 100 shot.

Wow, just read up on this thread. Sux man, very untimely for this to happen. But hopefully you get good money back for it and can upgrade, make some good out of it you know.
I hate people that drive on my ass. I'm a pretty spirited driver, but I atleast have the curtousy to leave some space between me and the car in front. I think it's either A.) guy that wants to piss you off ( been noticing a lot of truck drivers doing that to me lately, i'm thinking because of jealousy about gas consumption) or B.) dumb chick driving that isn't thinking cause she's on the celly or just plain stupid.
Addiction has some good advice, it's hard to let go of things, but better to turn the page quickly from this and move on to a next project IMO. Start fresh with a different playing field.

OkayI got a little update. I put the car up on jackstands and took the wheel off to find that the shock had gotten bent and the spring knocked out of the seat and the biggest reason the wheel had massive camber was because the upper control arm got bent. I don't think the frame is bent so I am going to try and fix it. My plan is to fix the suspension and fender myself and have a shop fix the door and quarter pannel. I ordered a 99-00 si porportion valve and slotted/drilled rotors from summit (front and rear) afew days ago and the aution for the integra trailing arms/disk brakes is ending in a few days so I should be picking those up when it ends then all I need are russle stainless steel brake lines and brake pads from hawk.
All that I can probably pay for before I get my money from insurance but I will have to wait until I get the insureance money beforeI can fix the shock and spring. I decided to upgrade these also, I am going with tein s-tech springsand tokico illumina shocks.
Insurance offered $4,800 for the car and a $759 buy back, which sucks because my car blue books for around $5,500 I think but they said they don't use kbb. We didn't accept it and they said they have a separate department that handles aftermarket parts so we sent them all of myreceipts and invoices so they will probably pay for my rim and tire to be replaced also at the very least.

Whoa your insurance tried to give you the dick! I feel that if a car is in a good of condition that yours was that you should at the MINIMUM get blue book. Insurance is just getting real bad, if you get close to paying out 1/40th of what you pay them, theyget up in arms and try to drop you.
oh, and be careful with the slotted/drilled rotors. They tend to warp much faster than blanks or just slotted. If you can, pause the order and read up on the difference between slotted, drilled, drilled/slotted, and blanks!

Yea I have read that they will warp easier and I probably should have went for just slotted but I don't drive that hard and I wanted drilled and slotted for the bling factor... plus they are from summit racing so they didn't cost that much so if they do warp I will just swap on some slotted.

dam it really did crush that sucker....
BUT i would recomend adjustable camber arms... that way if it did even slightly bend the top frame part a alignment shop can just adjust the camber so it looks and drives right....
adjustable parts work wonders for cars that are slightly bent!
it worked for my old 94 which had something bent upfront. i replaced the upper control arm with a adjustable one and the alignment shop straightened the wheel right out.
if i where you id also keep calling the insurance people and find out whats going on!!!!!!! and keep calling them!
also definatly take pleanty of pictures of what your doing..... andkeep the bad parts.... otherwise they might try some BS like "look it doesnt look to bad"
but either way. GOOD LUCK WITH THE INSURANCE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!! hope you get paid soon.

You don't think that the washer trick with longer bolts will work as well?
I'm also thinking that since I pretty much have to repaint the entire drivers side I might as well put a little more work into it and shave the trim but I'm not sure how well it will turn out. What do you guys think?
addiction2bass
05-19-2008, 02:35 PM
ya it might work..... but think of it this way.... upgrade for future suspension changes ;)
buy a camber kit and any alignment shop will set it perfect every time.... the washer trick you gotta guess and hope its right cause im sure they dont want to mess with (the washer trick)LOL
its your choice tho. you gotta buy a new upper arm anyways. im guessing 30-40bucks new from dealership each. you dont need a expensive camber kit. i used these on my old 94 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WICKED-REAR-CAMBER-KIT-HONDA-CIVIC-EG-EK-EM-92-95-96-00_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33581QQihZ007QQitemZ 170220169590QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) front camber, and rear toe adjusters. both very similar do names like skunk, just a few short cuts, but still good quality.
tho with my 99civic i decided to go with skunk2 since im alittle more show on this ride plus ill be adjusting the suspension at least twice a year! so i splerged.
and IMO shaving the moldings doesnt look that good....... just to smooth on the sides IMO. i like the little moldings to kinda break up the curves alittle. just paint them to match. BUT everyones got there opinion..... if you like it go for it! but i would just do it with bondo so you can always just sand it out.
REMINDS ME OF CIVIC.LOL looks exactly like my civic when i bought mine! but those plug wires arent stock.

Well they aren't OEM but they are just replacements, however one of the wire's insulation was cut so I took those off and put the stock ones on I had laying around from my old car.

o they are braided hoses... hum. nothing to special to instal then... id probably wrap them under the intake between the intake tubes. but then again i would have instaled the injectors on the bottom for a more hidden instal... would have a better SUPRISE feature to it ;)
so i guess thats going on the new civic.... you got paid from the insurance yet or are they still dicken around with ya? J/W
