Default INSTALLED HEADER TODAY!!! PICS!!!

wooooo whats up guys!! finally got a header installed on my car! its a megan racing 2-piece 4-2-1 header, but had some problems along the way. they forgot one of the gaskets, and sent 3 bolts short, which meant me taking the 45 minute trips out to home depot to find some replacement bolts and nuts two times back and forth!!negative feedback for meganracing.com unfortunatly....and then there was a fitment issue where the end of the header meets the downpipe, aside from having no gasket, there was a 2cm gap, i couldnt get it to close enough because the old screw / bolt had a stopper on it, so you could only tighten it so far, so then i made the trip out to a shop to get new bolts withouta stoper on it, with my car sounding loud as hell and reeking of exhaust hahaha cuz of the gap in the exhaust, sounded kinda cool tho.... but after all that, managed to get er done, as well as the distributor / new spark plugs and wires and new valve gasket. anyway here are some pics. enjoy!

oh 1 more thing, i am so dumb haha i went to re-tighten the valve cover bolts and i guess the engine was too hot still and stipped one of the screws.... gonna take it to a shop tomorrow to find another screw, or re-tap or re-thread the valve cover, hopefully its not too bad lol

haha thanks and fast reply! D series FTW!!!

ohhh i guess since i'm a n00b i might as well ask a n00b question which i know the answer is gonna be "thats just cuz of your header"

does anyone else with a header get that sort of fuzzy sound? lol, thats the only way i can describe it, i dont have an exhaust, just the CAI and the new header. my tone didnt deepen much but i got some fuzz lol...

My buddy put a Megan Racing header on his '01 EX and we had some fitment issues with it as well. We ended up rigging it up with the bolt and spring from a Chrysler Sebring, lmao. Don't ask me how we made that work, lol. It held up well though...the only reason he bought a new header (a year later) was because the MR header was getting holes in it around where it bolts to the block.

Don't know much about Megan but I've not been too terribly impressed by their headers, lol

well yeah the header was $180 but i heard its just as good as a DC sports header only main difference is that DC might be better quality and its emission approved or whatever, which i dont have to worry about cuz im in B.C. canada

really? i have a megan 4-1 header for my 02 DX (ex header though) and it fit right up! everything was perfect, o2 sensor bung, i re used the OEM bolts/springs to fit it up to an EX downpipe, and it fit great and sounds great too! only thing was getting the old exhaust mani off was a BITHC!!!!!!!! took me and my dad 5 hours of swearing and being mad, but we got it on and it was WELL worth it! love the feeling when you get something like that done yourself and not paying someone to do it
