NEW Chop Contest Rules: Lately it seems like we’ve had an increase in interest for the chop contests, so Steve and I are putting together some competition rules that should make this a bit more fun and organized. We tossed out some ideas we want to adopt from another forum we chop on and heard no complaints, so here goes: 1: Contest timeline – for the sake of quality chops you get two weeks from the post date of the contest to submit your chop. Hopefully that should be enough time that you are not trying to compromise your day to day life to fit in this chop, yet it’s not so much time that it feels like it has been dragging on forever. We want everyone to be able to participate!!! The more entries we have the more fun the contest can be. 2: How to start a contest – For the sake of consistency (and to make the anonymous entries work) only Steve and I will be starting the contests. Doing this will allow for clean, consistent contests. If you have an idea or pic that you think would make for a good contest please post it in the “Chop Contest Suggestions” thread. We want to organize the contests, not dictate everything that we chop, suggestions are more than welcome (and we don’t always have to chop cars). 3: Your Chops – Like anything in life you claim as “yours” the chop you submit should be yours, no copying or stealing from other chops. We want these contests to be anonymous so everyone can feel that the voting is fair, so please do not post your work anywhere else before the voting is over. Along these same lines, we ask that your chops do not contain and images, text or symbols that would identify the person that created the chop. Chops that contain the above mentioned items will be disqualified from that competition as it would not be fair to the other contestants. Aso, we reserve the right not to post your chop if it is obvious that you didn't try. Why should I do the work of posting it, if you didnt do any work when you chopped it. 4: Submitting your chop – Once you complete your work it can be turned in a couple of ways. 1) You can pm your chop to the person running that contest (either me or steveabbott). 2) You can email your chop to hcfchopcontest@gmail.com. All entries must be received by the deadline to make it into the vote. DO NOT POST YOUR ENTRY IN THE CONTEST THREAD, that will totally defeat the purpose of an anonymous contest and your entry will be disqualified. **You can submit your chop whatever size you like, but they will be posted in the voting thread at 800x600 (to stay consistant with the previous contest sizes and for easy browsing). 5: Voting – The morning after the deadline all of the received entries will be labeled (in no particular order) A, B, C, D, etc…at which point you are asked to vote in that thread who you choose for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and an HM (honorable mention). NO VOTING FOR YOURSELF (Steve and I will know who you are). POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED if you submit an entry but do not participate in the vote (5 to be exact) This might sound harsh, but it’s just to try and keep people involved instead of having them throw up a chop and then not come back until the next one. 5 points will be deducted and your votes will not count if you vote for you own ride, I mean come on...we know you are happy with it, you submitted it, tell us what you think of the other entries. Leaving comments on the work is always appreciated so that the artist gets an idea of what he/she did well or what could be improved (please keep the comments decent, there is no reason to bash on peoples work) Voting will be open for one week from the date it is posted. After that the votes will be added up to see who the winners are. Points are as follows 1st place: 3points, 2nd place 2 points, 3rd place gets 1 point and the HM gets .5 point. These points will added up from all the votes and a “Contest Winner” thread will be posted. In that thread we will post up all of the chops in order from first to last, along with each entry will be the points they received as well as the name of the artist so that everyone will know which work belongs to whom. After a few successful contests like this maybe we’ll set up a “Hall of Fame” thread to keep track of the contest winners for an easy look at some of the artwork that gets done here. Thanks!!! And good luck in the upcoming comps! Ps…We want to make this work, so if you have suggestions let me know…if it makes sense it shouldn’t be too much trouble to modify the rules a bit. But this method works out pretty smooth on the other forum that these rules are based on.
