It ends a week from when it started.....so Wednesday I believe...Rice_eater and steveabbot award points for every vote. (ie First gets 5, second gets 3, third gets 2 and HM gets 1.  OR something like that, it was just an example).  They tally up the points and post it on here later.  Speaking of which.  Rice and steve...maybe have like a sticky or a thread of all the past contest winners..If it was a sticky then that would make it more of a "hall of fame" deal

i didn't really put up a end time for the voting, just kinda testin to see how long it takes for the thread to stop gettin votes, probably leave it up a week after its posted, so probably tuesday or wednesday, and to see who wins (says in original post the scoring system) but 1 place vote scores 3 points, 2nd place vote scores 2 points, 3 place vote scores 1 point and hm scores .5

now all we do is add up all the scores for each contestant and place up a results thread to show who won, we are using spreadsheets to add up the points and whatnot.. its pretty simple

This was taken right out of the new rules I posted up...the only thing it was missing is that HM gets .5 point.

quote:

5:  Voting – The morning after the deadline all of the received entries will be labeled (in no particular order) A, B, C, D, etc…at which point you are asked to vote in that thread who you choose for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.  NO VOTING FOR YOURSELF (Steve and I will know who you are).  POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED if you submit an entry but do not participate in the vote (5 to be exact).  This might sound harsh, but it’s just to try and keep people involved instead of having them throw up a chop and then not come back until the next one.  Leaving comments on the work is always appreciated so that the artist gets an idea of what he/she did well or what could be improved (please keep the comments decent, there is no reason to bash on peoples work)

Voting will be open for one week from the date it is posted.  After that the votes will be added up to see who the winners are.  Points are as follows 1st place: 3points, 2nd place 2 points, and 3rd place gets 1 point.  These points will added up from all the votes and a “Contest Winner” thread will be posted.  In that thread we will post up all of the chops in order from first to last, along with each entry will be the points they received as well as the name of the artist so that everyone will know which work belongs to whom.

After a few successful contests like this maybe we’ll set up a “Hall of Fame” thread to keep track of the contest winners for an easy look at some of the artwork that gets done here.

Pretty much the thread posted after the voting is over will show you in order the winners...then we'll be doing the hall of fame (sticky hopefully) that we will place the top 3 from each contest in.

So realizing that 1 week for voting is a really long time...especially for those curious to see who did what car, and how they placed....the only reason we really made it this long was to see what kind of traffic it would get and to make sure there was a decent amount of votes.  What I'd really like to achieve is only having the voting open for 72hours...anybody opposed to that?  I dont like waiting for results either, but lately the chop shop has been slow and I dont want to end up with a comp that has maybe 2 more voters on top of the people who entered.  Thoughts?

BTW...there are still a couple people that entered that havent voted yet...remember points deducted if you dont cast a vote

i have to say though, this new way of doing it is better IMO...it keeps it annonymous, so its much more fair.
theres more work involved, like you have to count the votes/tally them yourselves, so props for the stamina to do so.

this way of voting is better though IMO.

I'm glad people are liking it...I think it gives everyone a chance to find out where they are and what they can work on...instead of everyone clicking on the one box to vote...people get the points...so maybe someone that never wins (before) finds out this way that they are a close 2nd or 3rd...plus with teh C+C that can be left with the votes you get a feel for what people like/dislike about your work.

I dont mind the work of tallying votes and keeping it up if it makes the chops and voting more fun for everyone.
