i have the same problem but its occasional. Make sure all your header bolts are tight and also all the bolts down the exhaust. You could possibly be sucking air in if they are not tight. Also check...

just watch the way everything comes off and u should be ok. If i remember right the bolt is reverse threaded but i could be wrong.

that key keeps the pulley from spinning on the crankshaft. basically it holds it in place. you will see when you take it apart

im going with a bad mount somewhere too. Especially check the mount connected to the rear of the motor and the firewall. That mount keeps the motor from torqing over and definetly gives a clunking...

if you do it the way chunkbird says all you will be doing is cancelling out the other voice coil. Over a period of time this could harm the sub. If you wanted to use both go ahead and bridge the amp...

i would say go with 2 12" Rockford Phosgate P2's and a kenwood 1K watt amp and a ported box. I have that setup but with a sealed box and it hits hard as hell plus would be in a 17 yr olds price range...
