ya true Type R. just about the "only" type of type R ill ever have in/on my civic ;) mad DJM yo.

YES i already had one Alpine Type R 12 but it was in a crappy Q logic box. AND ( i just found out that it was wired at 8ohms which is why it just wouldn't get that loud. )
so when i sold my old springs/struts from my 99 i also traded for another type R 12. and tonight i just got done hooking them up AND LOVE THEM.

Tho please forgive ya crappy install..... its cold out im lazy. i really went lazy i even bought a prefabbed box from my flea market. 55bucks decent deal. fits great in the car!
i just need to find a better spot to mount the amplifier, build a new floor for the trunk and then i REALLY need to buy a ipod wireless signal crap because i cannot stand Sony and of course my radio that came with the car is a sony :( worst piece of crap ive ever had! skips like a mofo! and i don't have crap for reception thru the radio.

and i did not wire the car! which is why the wires are CRAP! ghetto ground wire!!!!
im just waiting till it gets warm out before before i clean it up real good. and my floor is now the old warped 94s floor as well as my 99s OK floor, so they are layered together.LOL

surprisingly i think these Type Rs are just about as loud as my 99s stereo....  tho i have a CRAP LOAD of dimming now! tho i know the battery is small as hell and seems weak to me. i have yet to see if i can fit a full size battery in this car.

Got Rope? ;) hey it does the trick to secure the box for now....

sounds great for only 600watts! when it can take 1K watts. im trying to win this 1200watt jbl amplifier on ebay right now so i got my fingers crossed. tho its no big deal if i dont win it. if i dont win it ill start looking for a new radio to replace this crapy sony skiping turd!

my next mod will be STRIPING THE TINT off this dam car! i just have to schedule it and have a friend follow me to the tint shop to give me a ride home and back to pick it up... im so tired of not being able to see out my back glass!

ya it sounds realy nice BUT well check out this video....
http://s40.photobucket.com/albums/e250/addiction2bass/94civic%20project/?action=view&current=94civictypeR12s-14.flv
playing with the volume control.....

thats some preaty bad dimming for only 600watts! but i swear my battery is about to die! my dome light being on for 1-2hours is enough to drain the car enough so the motor wont turn over!
its gotta be going bad. i had the alternator tested before i droped the motor in the car and it tested good!

i plan on upgrading the whole radio to alpine in this car, speakers and radio. hell i might even put some alpine subs in the 99...
from what ive seen on mine little SPLmeter these 2 type Rs are reading 138.8db was the highest so far ive got even with the dimming hardcore! my 99 single 12 has been maxing at 136.6dbs

tho i have some wicked rear deck rattling going on :( so i have to bust out some foam on it very soon!

Part of the dimming as well as bad sound quality can come from lengthy grounds, and that one looks at least 2 feet.

How are your type Rs wired right now?
How much are you willing to spend on an amp?
Also alpine is a bit underrated, they can take about 650 rms for a type R, not the suggested 500.

is that amp also 1200 rms or peak?

Yeah def replace your battery
although with dimming, you're probably more likely to have an alternator problem too, I've run my system pretty loud on an alternator alone, I drove home one time to realize only next morning my battery came undone, and I had things cranked the whole way driving XD
Or maybe your alternator just doesn't put out
(not as much as I can say for your mom)
hhaaaaddd to throw that in there, waaayyy too hyper right now

You want to upgrade to all alpine?
well if you want, i'm probably selling all my alpine gear
including the type X in the trunk
type X 5.25s
type R 6.5s
type R 6x9s

the subs are wired up all parrelllel now at 1.3ohms, and my jbl bp600.1 is 600watts rms.
and i got outbid on the 1200watt jbl amp last night...... o well!

its got to be a battery problem, cause ive left my dome light on one day for about 2 hours only to come back to a car that didnt have enough power to start the car! so im preaty sure its the problem area!!!!!! tho im sure the ground wire location also sucks as well as the factory ground up front holding back the amplifier some. it will all be upgraded when it gets warm out. till then it sounds just fine/ when the cd players not skipping :(

WHen i had 2 type e's and a 550 watt alpine amp, it didnt dim nearly as much as that.. I replaced my battery to a bigger accord battery and it really didnt do anything.. still dims, but for how bad that dimming is.. a bigger battery might help, or just pick up a cap

Thats some bad dimming, and a done light on for 2 hours shouldn't have drained your battery that bad. Go to a local parts store and they should have a tester that can check your battery, alt. and starter for free, I work at a schucks and we do it all the time. Also, your battery may be bad because of an alternator that doesn't charge.
