Default My first 1/4 mile with my civic EM2

Ok so this race is from a few months from now but i'm new here and thought it'd be nice to share. So yeah i went to the Napierville Dragway in the late summer to try my car out to see how it would do. My civic is an SI-G 2001 with a CAI (now a ram air intake since for some reason it fell off), and nothing else. A stock D17a2 simply. so yeah i was waiting in line and looked for a guy to race up against til' a guy with a 97' Accord drove up next to me and asked if i wanted to race with him. I was like sure no prob. We were talking along the way he was asking what engine i had an i said i had the stock D17 VTEC. I started to feel like i would lose when he said he swapped an H22 in there. Oops...haha will be easy for him. So we were next to race and i warmed my already bald summer tires a bit before getting in front of the line.

We take off and i get agood start so i was a bit in front of him. I shifted on second and when i was at about 6000 rpm he passed me and stayed in front til the end. I was like oh well let's see how i did it was still a good race . I took mytimeslip and it said 17.102 i was like "what? 17.102?? what the hell i do wrong?" I'm not that much of a racer but i thought i'd be at least 16.7 or 16.8. Sohe asks me if i want another go so i said yeah and we tried it out again. The second time i did 16.9 @ 80 mph. My reaction times are pretty good so that wasn't a problem.

I was a bit disappointed in my civic's time since i had a95' Probe GT-ZE before that did 16.3 with a badly slipping clutch so i could've did like 15.3 or close to that. I thought my civic would be not bad when isaw a DX do 17.01 which was also stock but i was disappointeda bit.

So what do you guys think?Did i doa bad time for a stockEM2?

ummm, you warmed up some bald street tires???? If so, don't do that, all it does is turn the tires a little greasy.

is there anyway u can post ur slip?? an i would never run on bald tires, 1.no traction an second i wouldnt wanna lose control.
An yeah im pretty sure a stock D serious would run high 16's. So a few more practices launchs an u should be ok.

15.3 for a d series engine is a bit too much to expect going stock with just a SRI. But keep practicing and maybe you can hit 16.5 or 16.6

id say you did good for an em2, i was expecting a little slower, id love to see the slip of both those races. 16.8 sounds good though. any other plans for it?

i keep reading you guys type d series this, d series that...you forget...this is a d17a2, the bastard child of the d series.

A good run would be high 16's... low 17s is about average. Reaction time has nothing to do with your quarter mile time. You can sit on the tree for a minute and still run a 17 second pass.

Its all in the launch. Try to launch at about 3000RPM and slip the clutch where you are on the edge of spinning the tires.

But if you were running slicks youshould have had better times
