Default Rear Speaker Rattle?! Bottoming out?!?

Hey guys!

Recently i have jus upgraded my sound system... i have a Panasonic CQ-C5400 head deck pumpin out 50 Watts to JVC 3-way 6.5" fronts and alpine 3-way type-s 6x9s. The problem i am having now is that there is a rattle in the rear speakers when i play music loud. i was thinking that it was the removable tray that is causing the problem.

I had a friend look at it, and he said that my speakers are bottoming out because they were under powered. Is this true? what can i do about it? do i need an amp?

and btw, what do u guys think about the V12 Alpine 5 channel amps. are they good? i wanna use one amp to power speakers and sub in the future (maybe).

Thanks

first off... anything Alpine makes is awesome

second... I believe the Type S 6x9's require atleast 150 watts, so they are definately underpowered. Underpowering will lead to eventually blowing them. I recommend an amp for your 6.5's and 6x9's... it will be a huge difference.

im goin to have to disagree with everyone.....underpowering speakers will not cause them to blow......they just wont sound as good as they can. Ive got infinity components in my car all around and theyre powered off of the headunit......which gives a very low RMS to those speakers........they aint goin to blow.....if i were u id make sure i wired the speakers correctly........if u give a 150 watt RMS speaker 50 watts of constant power it isnt going to blow.......but it wont sound as good as it potentially can.........think about it.

Trust me, I also run Pioneer Premeir speakers off af my weak @ss head unit and they are fine but they will blow eventually.

I probably replace 2 or 3 sets a week for being underpowered. When customers get angry that they continue to have problems and we convince them to upgrade to more power to run them (belive me most people dont belive this is a problem) They leave and the next time we see them is to buy more stuff because they are so happy with their setup.

like LEVIII said... they will blow in time. There is a reason that they have a minimum power rating.

what is it exactly that causes them to blow out? Is it the distortion of the HU that causes the speakers to create damaging vibration?
