his wsnt quite stock. it had the TRD dual exhaust and a drop-in filter. im not sure of what times he ran, but he never had problems with american trucks. even a highly modded (no FI) dodge 5.9 got dusted. off the line the american trucks usually pulled a bit, but they couldnt hang with the 32 valve, 4-cam V-8 in higher revs.

Imports rule, domestic cars blow, especially new ones, old muscle cars pose quite a challenge however to rice burners, esp. on 93 octane, haha!

no, he sold it. he only works about 6 months at a time, and lives off of savings for a few months, then goes back to work. on one of his off cycles, he decided to fix up his old 52 Chevy pickup and start shopping for an FD RX-7, so he sold the truck so he'd have the money if he found one.

yeah, and ive seen quite a few places on the net stating them into the 14s. and the only reason I would be happy about beating them, is because dodge is making such a huge deal about reintroducing the Hemi to the market. and Honda and Toyota have been using that design for years. dodge thinks that the hemi is such a great inovation, but my buddies Tundra TRD could run circles around the big Hemi. that Hemi displaces just shy of 5.7L, and that Tundra had 4.7. so obviously that truck isnt quite what dodge has made it out to be.

Dodge Ram weighs ...... 5549 lbs w/ 345 hp & 375 lbs-ft trq
Toyota Tundra weighs .. 3965 lbs w/ 282 hp & 325 lbs-ft trq

Which is 1,585 lb difference. It has NOTHING to do with the HEMI, it's the weight. The HEMI is a bad ass engine, and it's both the 5.7 and the 6.1. It has nothing to do with the HEMI or the HEMI not perfoming.

16.084 lbs per HP for the Ram
14.060 lbs per HP for the Tundra

That's why the Tundra is faster. IMO The Tundra is WAY too light. I would want more beef in my truck. 3,965 lbs isn't much at all. "wimpy weight"

BTW Assembly on the Tundra is done in the United States.....

oh im not arguing that the Hemi isnt a great motor, but im just saying that dodge is over-showboating it. I mean, since when is resurecting(sp?) a 40 year old technology cutting edge?

the new hemi is nothing like the old hemi...the only similarity to the original hemi is the plug placement in comparison to the wedge engines. the modern hemi has been Greatly altered to yield at least Some economy numbers

What's all the commotion about a Hemi anyway? What makes it different from a conventional ICE?

the way the hemi can be told apart from another older engine, is for one the Huge cylinder head, and the fact that the spark plugs go directly through the center of the combustion chamber, and is between the valves, as opposed to a "Wedge" engine, where the spark plug is opposite of the valves, entering at the site of the CC. the location of the plug, and the design of the heads along with the huge dome pistons that dodge used on the old hemis, which actually entered well into the head were very powerful. when introduced in the 60s, they produced an advertised 425 horsepower which was greatly under rated, and this was quite a bit more than any other engine offering in the muscle car market. in 1968 you could buy a "hemi dart"..which came with a fiberglass hood and trunk...aluminum bumpers, no interior, and a roll cage...and it ran factory low 10s...very few still exist...i have seen one, it had 900 miles on it and sold for $850,000... ford and GM tried to copy the hemi but chryscos patent on the hemi design was so precise that they quickly sued ford and gm, and they were forced to cease production of the engine. a great deal of the cars in the NHRA still run a hemispherical style cylinder head. i dont know who is at all interested in the NHRA, but if youre watching sometime, watch the top fuel cars as the pull up...they almost all have hemi heads...some of the non-dodge cars still run a hemi engine.
