Alright, I live in Austin, Tx. So far, with the research I've done, it seems like there are only a few options to run a street legal setup. The rules are really strict here, like near cali strict. Since I have an OBDII vehicle, are my only options for street legal turbo setups the Greddy and the Edelbrock kit? I don't like the Greddy too much since it doesn't come with intercooler and if you add it you lose the street legality. Are there any options for piecing my own kit together that would be legal? Thanks for any advice in advance.

Well I think if you buy a greddy intercooler kit you can keep it legal but they are expensive as hell. Have you looked into AEM's standalone, I am not sure but I think itmight legal.

It mightbe like inCA,where greddy's intercoolerare not CARB legal therefore adding it to their CARB Legal turbo will result making it no longer legal[&:][:'(]
Try searching in theclassifields for an used edelbrock kit, Igot mine used for 1,200. Once in a whileyou might get lucky and find an used edelbrock kit onhonda tech's classifields for around $1,200-1,500.
so essentially the ONLY choice is the edelbrock kit. Can you give me anything on how you like yours gsumano?

Oh, I was under the impression that their intercooler kits were legal also. Man I feel bad for you guys, around here as long as your car has 4 wheels on it you pass inspection pretty much.

Yeah it does suck, it essentially makes the edelbrock kit my ONLY option.

And for those of us who actually do live in Cali what hope do we have? We're pretty close to not being allowed to have engines in our vehicles. What's legal in Cali? I tried googling this and I either got a bunch of legal garble or conjecture. Does anyone know the actual smog laws for Cali?

Nvm I just found this dreaded website. It's like reading an obituary. We Californian's have a pretty grim outlook when it comes to what's legal and what's not.

Ha! Convert yourself to obd1 and paint your intercooler black. Can be scary sometimes tho. On the five mile drive from the shop to my house after just getting my 97 turbo, i got pulled over by one undercover detective and two other cop cars at the same time. Every time one cruiser would pass me, they would flip a bitch and tail me. Think they thought my car was stolen, didn't even ask to pop the hood.
