Default t28 turbo ?s

its not a civic but its a turbo and i have a question. my friend has sr20det with a t28. he got it thru a shop and they got the motor in and running first try. all went smooth then a day and a half later the motor blew. he was takin it easy because it was just built, gettin the break in miles down. he trailord to the shop and they told him that they hooked his blow off valve up wrong and it was boosting 25lbs. is this possible with the t28 below 5000rpm? the guy that put the motor is a pretty knowledgable person. im trying to find out from an outside source because me and my friends thinks hes being screwed. hes already ben screwd by this shop on the motor before this one. the previous motor thru this shop was a hundred thousand mile crate engine that they sold him to be turbod. and it had metal in the pan after only 500miles then lost compression on the number 1. i just want to know if hes being screwd. can a t28 push 25lbs? thank u for any help

Default RE: t28 turbo ?s

im no expert, but a T28 is a pretty small turbo, i have never heard of anyone running that much boost (especially at or below 5000 rpm) through a T28. i would tell your friend to sign up to a forum pertaining to his car and do some research before dumping too much more money into this shop. is the shop going to replace or rebuild that engine for free?

The blow off valve doesn't control boost. The wastegate controls boost. Someone screwed up pretty badly if it was having a 25psi boost spike

+1, maybe they didnt hook up the wastegates vacuum tube? GEt some clamps on either end of that bitch and tighten them down. A T28 (like alot of small turbos) falls off on the top end alot, 25 psi would be ridiculous on a t28.
