Default wtf is goin on?

so i was drivin my 97 civic dx hatch yesterday and all the sudden the endine light went on and my speedo started freaking out...jumping everywhere except the speed i was going. it even jumped around when i was stopped. now the speedo started working again but only when im in gear. when im in nuetral at a stop light or something it jumps everywhere again but as soon as i throw it in gear it works...the engine light however is still on...im assuming it's a speed sensor problem .. any ideas?

thanks
nate

sounds like a speed sensor to me. if its not, then check the ground wire to the sensor.

That happened to me right before my gauge cluster took a ****. You will have to buy a new cluster (or find one in the junkyard) within a few weeks. The computer and relays in the cluster are going bad.

Default RE: wtf is goin on?

alright, so i took my car to autozone and got a diagnostic check on my engine light...there were three codes...P1298 - which is a manufacturer control fuel air metering code..the guy didn't know what it was, he said i have to call the dealer. the other two were P0135 and P0141 which are both oxygen sensor malfunctions on bank 1 both sensors one and two... so basically none of them really had to do with my speedo problem, but im hoping trying to fix those problems will get rid of the speedo malfuncion... anyone got any ideas on any of this??? thanks
