View Full Version : What kind of system is everyone running?
logand5 03-05-2008, 05:58 PM So what kind of system is everyone running and how do they sound?
I have 2 10" Kicker Comps with a 400 watt Audiobahn.
The lows are ok and the mids suck but I need a new box to cuz it don't have much air space.
FlipHKD720 03-05-2008, 06:27 PM Pioneer 6.5"s and 6x9"s, Eclipse 3200 amp, 12" Alpine Type-E subwoofer, Alpine HU, custom sub box. Prolly could use a pre-made box and get some better sound, it rattles real bad back there, some Dynamat would help too, but overall i'm happy with the quality of my whole sound range
coxey26 03-05-2008, 06:41 PM ssl 1800 watt 2/1 amp, 15" audiobahn sub, premade sealed box, sony indash, audiobahn front and rears......sounds pretty loud for 1 sub, but ive always been a fan of audiobahn systems....the highs are clear....not the best system ive owned but definently good enough;)!!!!
Fiirkan 03-05-2008, 06:55 PM JVC 6 1/2" front, and Factory 6 1/2" rear (will be replacedd by JVC's when they blow), and a Kenwood 12" sub with Jensen 1000watt amp(Paid $100 for the box, sub and amp). hooked up to a JVC headunit with iPod adapter
itinerant 03-05-2008, 07:00 PM I have four Crossfire CF310Ds in the trunk in custom boxes, Pioneer 6x9s in the back, Kenwood 6.5s in the front, and some random dome tweeters run from an Alpine Head unit. The 10s are powered bya Jensen 500 watt amp. It's in the middle of a transitional phase, but I ran out of money. The 6x9s are mostly blown, the 6.5s are old, and I'm only pushing a whopping 75 watts to each sub, but it still sounds surprisingly good for almost no power. Overall it sounds muddy, as you might have suspected.
ltkenbo 03-05-2008, 07:10 PM Alpine MRP-F550 90W RMS x 4. Alpine MRP-F650 600W RMS x 1. Alpine 12" type R sub, 2 Alpine 6.5 Type R Speakers, and 2 Alpine 6 x 9 type R speakers.
rudedawwg 03-05-2008, 07:30 PM alpine 6.5 components in the front and rear with a rockford p400 amp running them. 2 alpine type r 10's in a custom fiberglass box that i made that fits in my wheel well with a rockford p1000 amp running them. and to top it off i have a pioneer d3 double din nav head unit. i also have two one farad digital caps to help out. retail for my system is about $3,400 which doesnt include the fiberglass box or installation of anything since i did everthing myself. but i work a certain major electronics retailer, and i got everything for nearly half off. hell my amps together retail for $1000 but i got them directly through rockford for about $350. The p100 is one ohm stable and puts out over 1200 watts rms at one ohm. my system is not only rediculously loud but sounds so incredibly good
cyberx32 03-05-2008, 07:59 PM fosgate 900 watt amp (bridged), fosgate cap. Two 12 kenwood subs, kenwood 6x9 and kenwoods up front. Sounds pretty good, i have "challenged" other systems that are twice as poweerful as mine and my setup comes out sounding clearer and louder than them.
knoklu 03-05-2008, 09:26 PM alpine mp3 deck, kicker 12 cvr's, crappy jensen 6x9s. and a box olny made for bass so the lows are great but everything else sounds like s::t lol loud and clear when i fade the speakers to the front but mid basses are poop in my car. lol o yea and those 2 12s powered by a 600 kenwood amp come up louder than people bumpin 1200 real watts so im satisfied
KarTuneMan 03-06-2008, 07:12 AM AM/FM CD limited edition Honda Civic radio. 12 watts times 4. Beautiful blue display..... integrated climate controls.... AWSOME.

These are old pics, and not actually how my setup currently looks
Vilex 03-06-2008, 05:53 PM I got a 1500W 12" Alpine Type-R sub, 1700W Kenwood amp, 4.0 Soundstream Capicitor. I might take it down a notch on the sub and get a 1000w fosgate or something. Its kinda TOO much bass for me lol.. And it makes my light dim a little, even with a Optima Yellow Top battery.
bigmikew1 03-06-2008, 06:05 PM i have a sony cdx-gt81uw radio, infinity reference components all around 6.5" in the front and 5.25" in the back. i recently installed a 12" jbl gto1204d in a q-logic vented box.

nebrown1 04-04-2008, 01:55 PM alpine head, 12 kicker l7, kicker 4 channel, 1500 wat rms mono kiker amp, focal speakersin the front and back
lawlersauce 04-04-2008, 11:22 PM Pioneer DEH-p5900IB head unit, 6.5" alpine type-s in front, 5.25" infinity in back. Thinking about stripping the front speakers and getting some component alpine type-Rs and running a four channel amp to all my speakers.
The Pioneer HU has like 22x4 RMS (some of the highest rated RMS) and it makes my infinities sound like little 8" subs, it's great.
00IntegraLS 04-05-2008, 11:19 AM I have a friend that works for sony and he sent me sony's newest products for free. 6.5" front speakers, I custom fit some 6x9" in the back, 2 12" p5's, and a deck with front aux port which I love. I know many of you may not like sony but hey, cant complain when its free
dragoncivicsi 04-06-2008, 03:48 PM Panasonic mp3 HU (usually have my iphone plugged in thru auxillary)
6.5" alpine coaxials (front and back)------> soon to be replaced by 2 sets of components
12" Phoenix Gold SD radial in a ported box ------> soon to be in a 1.2 cubic foot sealed box
mtx tc3001 bridged for the sub
also looking for a good 4channel amp to power front and back speakers, should be a good summer.

lilgreencivic 04-07-2008, 06:41 PM Pioneer CD/AM/FM/IPOD/AUX head, 2 pioneer 6 1/2s (in the stock door location) 2 pioneer 6x9s (in rear dash (hidden under rear dash) 2 pioneer 12" subs in ported box in trunk. then i have a 600 watt 4 channel pioneer amp down in the spare tire well with a plexi window (with leds) and a pioneer 780 2 channel amp... currently on the trunk floor off to the right (seeing as i never use my truck). i have plans to display the second amp in the spare tire well with more plexi but i needed to hear it. (i added the subs and 780 watt anp on saturday) it is amazing. i recomend Pioneer to everyone reading this, it is VERY clear tight sound
Zeitgeist
lawlersauce 04-08-2008, 08:53 PM i prefer infinity/alpine SPEAKERS over Pioneer's, however Pioneer has some of the best looking and performing head units.
lawlersauce 04-08-2008, 08:55 PM Oh, a cool little thing I did was run my iPod cable from the back of the head unit and fixed it so that my ipod sits in my glovebox and I just control it on my deck. Recomend it to everyone, I never have to worry about leaving my iPod in my car on accident and having it stolen.
PhillipBurch 04-09-2008, 10:04 AM I recently finished building my system. Pioneer head unit, Pioneer 6.5s, Pioneer 6X9s, two 10 inch older model Pioneer subs with a 1000W bridged amp. I have the stock tweeters, they sound good, may replace them later on. My system is very loud, and also clear. This is my first system in my first car. Now I'm going to start saving to build a new system since I've learned some things. This system was more than anything, a learning experience.
