How easy is the mounting for this beast?? And any available piping kits?

i wouldn't call it a beast by any means. honestly ifi was going smic... i'd go w/ the Supra SMIC, it will flow a lot better and support 400hp no problem.

you usually have to get a bit creative with the piping, either hack sawing/cutting, and then sometimes welding it, other times (easier a bit, can do this just with sockets/wrenches/screwdrivers) just getting a nice get of couplers and T-bolts (better than those dinky little clamps) will do.

any reason your going SMIC over FMIC? You just get your hands on one?

pretty much; just goin on my DD civic.. no need to get all fancy and FM it, i can get a SMIC for like 25 bucks.. i'm just worried about the piping, and how hard it will be.

you can buy custom piping kits off ebay for like $100, i found one with t-bolts included as well. Yea $25 is cheap, btu IMO i dont think FMIC is too fancy. Its a pretty basic setup, especially becasue of the way you usally run charge piping in 5th and 6th gen Civics.

it also depends on what kind of turbo you are going to e running. if you are planning on running a 16g or larger, i'd suggest going with a smaller fmic rather than a dsm smic.the smic will start heat soaking BADDD anything over 250whp.

I don't understand why people use SMICs when the only thing they are good for is heating up your intake charge.

agreed. the only instance where a DSM smic would do ANY good is for a teeny tiny turbo pushing no more than 6-8lbs. anything about 10lbs and it's going to soak. you can snatch a full fmic w/ piping on Ebay for 200-300. granted it's not the best material but a small fmic would lower temps 30-40 degrees.

ebay intercooler: $100
2.5" piping, couplers, and T-Bolts on eBay: $100

I suggest getting quality parts rather than cheap ebay stuff, unless you wanna join the Blown Motor Club. What are your power goals?

yeah if you're gonna do a pretty big build with some major power, you'll prolly wanna skip out on the intercooler from eBay, but piping is just piping, and the T-Bolts are pretty good from what i hear.

well form the info he gave us and the questions he asked i was assuming he wasn't going to be pushing much power at all. i

if you are planning on pushing any decent power (275whp+) you will definatly want to get a quality brand IC. between ebay IC's and quality named IC's there is a 30-70 degree difference in temps.

Dude. Intercooler piping? are you joking me? Theres no way you can go wrong with ebay intercooler piping other than a little bit of improper fitment.

No I am not joking you. I know that for the most part, piping is piping, and that an ebay intercooler won't blow your engine. I was responding to the suggestion of buying intercoolers off ebay and cheaper parts in general.

ebay gets the job done. that's just about as far as it goes. it does heat soak a lot faster and a lot more than a qualty part (FMIC's AND the piping heat soaks). if you are only wanting 150whp than the smic will do just fine for you but i'd still suggest something that will stay cooler... fmic, supra smic.
